I heard he was only looking for $3M-$4M a year. At that price if they really don't like Jerry why wouldn't they sign him?

Not saying I don't want Winston or anything, but I wouldn't be too surprised if Yeatman ends up being our starting RT in 2013.

It is starting to seem to me that the FO isn't too optimistic about Martin protecting Tannehill's blind side. Signs to that effect....

1. They could sign Winston, a quality RT to a reasonable deal. He said he was willing to sign a short term deal....yet they have not signed him.

2. No interest in Clabo.

3. They were interested (to a degree) in resigning Jake Long to play LT so Martin could stay on the right.

4. There are also rumors of interest in Branden Albert who would play LT (keeping Martin at RT).

It seems to me that we are being painted in a corner at LT. We basically have two or 3 options...

A. trade a 2nd for Albert. Chiefs get their 2nd rounder back (Alex Smith) and we get a solid LT (with a fat contract)

B. trade up in the draft to land Lane Johnson. This will also cost a high 2nd rounder (but a lower contract).

C. make a player trade....Davone Bess, Jared Odrick and a late pick for Albert. Odrick fills a need at 3-4 DE for KC and Bess gives them a quality slot receiver to go with Bowe and Avery.

"A" allows us to land a potential play maker at 12.
"B" means we have to wait until pick 2b to shoot for a play maker.
"C" is a long shot but leaves us with ammo in the draft.

OT is a position we need if we want Tanny to improve. I wouldn't say they don't have confidence in Martin, but depth a the position sure couldn't hurt as well as the competition.

GO DOLPHINS!!!!

Considering Martin was one of the worst ranked tackles in the league last year, that may be a position we end up doubling up on. Taking a LT high and a RT in the 3rd.

I just think that if they were confident in Martin at LT then we would have signed a RT by now. All signs point to the contrary....even though they said they like Martin on the left. I call shenanigans.

One other thing I will say about Albert is....he is not a very good run blocker. He had something like a -3.5 rating last year while he did well in pass pro. probably not worth a fat contract and a 2nd round pick IMO.

Whether Martin can do the job or not, Miami should still double up; in fact, I would grab two OL in the draft and continue to look for another one in FA.
