Jake Long IS turning out to be Jake Grove. If you have to give Jake 9-10 mil a year to stay (when he is at 75%) then why not give Ryan Clady 11 mil while he is at 100%?

He is still playing at an elite level and has not had the injury problems that Jake has had. He has never missed a game. Not one!

It's a no brainer to me. Problem is if he wants to move or if he gets franchised.

Clady and Andre Smith tied for the highest rating among tackles in 2012. They had a +26.9 rating while Long had a -.3 rating.

The move makes total and complete sense but we don't even have to reach for the best LT in the league. We can get any one of about 5 or 6 (actually 21) tackles that had twice the year that Long did...and they won't cost near as much.

One thing is for certain. We have NO tackle that is playing up to par to be successfull. Jon Martin allowed more hurries at LT in 4 games than Long did in 12. Counting on him to improve two-fold is a HUGE gamble but I am more confident that he will show more improvement than Long since Long has been trending down for two straight years.

I think Jake is in for a rude awakening. There may be teams that need LT's but there are 21 FA's this year that graded out better than Jake Long.

Exactly chren. He had a good 2 or 3 years then his play declined.

Chambers rookie year on Thanksgiving. Fieds completed 3 deep balls to him. Those were the only deep balls Fiedler ever completed

How are the Marshall contract and Jake Long's future contract even remotely linked together?

Jake has been hurt the last two seasons. So much so that he's missed substantial playing time AND his play has diminished over the same period of time.

Marshall was healthy when signed and was on an upward curve as a player as well.

Tell you what Crowder...you convince Jake to sign the same deal Marshall did (3 years, 16 mill) and we can can start comparing the two. Until then, i'm afraid they have next to nothing to do with each other.
