Oh yeah, that's true. But whether we beat NE or not will depend on what kind of fight WE put up. Not whether they are battling for a playoff spot.

Proof?

Consider that year where the Pats had a PERFECT RECORD going into the last game of the season.

Against guess who? The New York Giants. I think the Giants were fighting for seeding.

All the experts said that New England would REST their players so as to not show the Giants their best since they might meet in the SuperBowl.

What did the Patsies do?

They went ALL OUT in a game that was meaningless to their seeding just to go for Miami's perfect record.

They DID beat the Giants.

But a few weeks later, in the SuperBowl, the Giants beat them.

The Patsies are dumb and are even MORE ruled by mere passion than cool headed logic than even the Jets.

So even if we are eliminated and out of it, the Patsies will be out for blood.

So bottom line, it's not necessarily the seeding that the Pats will be playing for but just for the sheer pleasure of beating us that they'll go "all out."

We (a 6-10 team) came pretty close to matching the number 1 & 2 teams in the league (who we played in consecutive weeks) but we beat ourselves with sloppy play, questionable player substitutions and mistakes. If we eliminate the penalties and turnovers, we have a very good chance.

Not too shabby for a very inexperienced rookie QB, rookie HC, and completely new O & D systems in one years time.

This team is on the verge of turning the corner.

Two critical games for TODAY is of course our game against the Jills and Pitt which HAS TO BEAT Cincy.

Then Next week, We have to Beat the Patsies. Pitt has to lose to Cleve and Cincy has to lose to Balt.

Still a tall order.

Might be good for us if Balt also loses tomorrow to give them extra incentive against Cincy.

Good to be the Silver Medal owners in the division. Good the Jets and Bills are total cream puff's there. With the Steelers gone got my Christmas present two days before. Very happy. Have to wait for next week. Who knows what NE is gonna bring. Today it was Jacksonville and the star fellow had two ints. Miracles do happen.

Just to make it clear. The miracle I talked about is try everything possible to beat the Patriots next Sunday. Our former QB hanged NE 348 yards passing. I know our WR's are bupkis, but now we have a QB finally. Being # 7 at the AFC standings is not bad at all. Next season I am certain is gonna be a whole lot different.

I actually hope we lose next week.

It's a meaningless game.

Meaningless wins don't help you build for the future the way higher draft picks do.

Now that it's officially over...I'm all for seeing what Pat Devlin has to show next week. I think developing him as a quality backup is far more important than playing for pride.

I was unable to catch if that was a joke or not, but....

They won't tank next week; they are fighting for positioning in the playoffs.

Us yahoo fans are always looking for ways to improve the draft slot, and there's something to be said about going all-out to win "meaningless" games.

But in this case, I'd vote for a total ass kicking of the Cheats in NE and end the Lady's career (at least for 60 minutes).

Kicking Cheaters ass, messing with their home field deal in the playoffs, and finishing 500 in Philbin's rookie year is well worth the draft position drop.

LOL. I think he meant it as a joke EVEN IF THE PATSIES ARE FIGHTING for advantage in the playoffs. LOL.

I agree, f'ing us is probably even more important to them that that. LOL.
