The Phins as one of the 3 most plausible landing spots for Suh. He is very close to Hickey.

BTW, Dominik was talking Ja'Wuan James in the 1st round, 6 weeks before the draft... So...

at 17 mil a year, 115 to 125 mil deal, 70 mil guaranteed...no thanks. Draft your own. Oakland or Jax can afford him.

I agree as good as Suh is, it is scary having that much money wrapped up in one defensive player... We need to save some cap money for other spots IMO... If they do it, I hope we have a really good plan for the other holes... Not another Ireland esq Hell Mary, (Wallace, Ellerbe, Wheeler contracts) by Hickey and Philbin trying to save their jobs... It would be a big move but also a very scary one...

He wants 17 I would offer 15 tops. I would cash in Starks Odrick and Mitchell to get Suh.

Imagine having Suh and Dan Shelton or Malcomb Brown...That would pretty much fix our defense. having to game plan around Wake and Suh...

If we land suh and fix the LB position we stop the run very well this in 2015.

It's doable but it'd have to be a 10 year deal to keep the cap hit as low as possible....we're (the NFL) headed there anyway might as well get ahead of the curve.

Sure thing like Albert Haynesworth? There is no such thing, Sam. Suh is one incident away from a multi-game suspension after the latest incident of stomping on Aaron Rodgers. At one mil per game. He's already had 2 suspensions and multiple fines.

Earl Mitchell was a 3rd tier DT who was also a projection from 3-4 NT to 3-4 DT. Not a good signing. He was not even good in Houston, IMO. I said 6-7 mil which gets you into upper tier 2. Dan Williams, Terrence Knighton, etc.

I agree its a lot of money and it makes me nervious too but that's the way top player salaries are going...if you want the best players you have to pay for them. Yes, I'd rather draft guys of our own but Suh makes a huge difference in our defense and the combination of Suh, Wake, Vernon, Jordan..et al would be pretty daunting.

There has to be a way to make a contract for Suh work without breaking our bank or salary cap...a 10 year contract might just be the ticket and the wave of the future.

No thanks on a 10 yr contract.....and I'm not real thrilled on a huge contract for Suh either, too many other holes

Why because everyone knows the last two or three years would be moot anyway? The length would only serve keep the cap hit more manageable.

length of deal doesn't matter. It's the guaranteed money.

It's kind of hard to NOT picture Suh stomping on Tom Brady.

Just to take a look at how that would happen....

We have to find a FS, DT, CB, LG, WR

We currently have 10.4 mil in cap space and would have to make these cuts....

Dannell Ellerbe +8.45 (post June)
Phillip Wheeler +3 (post June)
Randy Starks +5 mil

11.45 + 10.4 = 26.85 mil

Suh -16 mil = 10.85 mil remaining

other options...

Shelley Smith +2.75 mil
Earl Mitchell +4.5 mil

That leaves 18.1 mil to fill out the rest of the roster.

We can also extend Brandon Fields. He is due a 1.5 mil roster bonus I assume kicks in next week.

Look at the contracts that will govern what Suh gets on the open market...

1. JJ Watt, 6 year, Total Value: $100,000,000 (avg. $16,666,667/year; $20,876,385 fully guaranteed)

2.Gerald McCoy, 7 year, Total Value: $95,200,000 (avg. $13,600,000/year; $14,757,308 fully guaranteed)

Something in between wouldn't be as bad as I originally thought.

6 year, 88 mil (average of 14.66 per year), 18 mil fully guaranteed.

14-15 mil per year for Suh or

Mitchell: 4 mil
Starks: 5 mil
Odrick: 6 mil
Total...15 mil

Put Suh next to Anthony Johnson, Deandre Coleman or AJ Francis and we are probably improved...OR draft a big NT...

Ian Wharton ?@NFLFilmStudy 14m14 minutes ago
Here’s the deal Suh will get from whatever team. The price is the price.
6 years, $110-115 mil with $57-60 million guaranteed

How about this deal if Ian's correct?

No way I'd offer him more than
Jj Watt. He's not a better player.

Sure he is but at different positions so...

Suh is the best DT in the league and just by his presence on the line would allow Wake and Vernon to register 3-5 more sacks each.

Along with that he makes the run defense much better and allows our LBers and Jordan when he's on the field to do more.

The addition of Suh to the team we had last season gets us in the playoffs because with him we actually stop the run the last six weeks of the season.

The question is, can we get him AND do enough of the other things we need to do?

I'd gladly swap Starks, Ellerbe and Wheeler for Suh.

Considering Hickey and Philbin are walking the green mile it wouldn't surprise me one bit if we get Suh for absurd money.

I would never pay a defender QB money.

Hey if we fine Suh I in lala land. Dude has to be double teamed on every play and he still collapses the middle of the oline consistently. He automatically makes the tackle next to him a threat. Wake and Vernon will not get double teamed. Olinemen will no longer be able to get to our lb's.

If we can get this guy we should injuries we would just have to roll the dice on. Part of the game.

I agree missou....Some people say its a gamble but we have to take a risk sometime or else we be tackling the rbs with our safeties again next year.

It doesn't matter that he played a different spot on the D-line. it;s about impact. Both players have a huge one but he is not better than Watt and we are going to pay him THREE TIMES the guaranteed money and 2.5 mil more per year?

He is no better than Gerald McCoy.

NO THANK YOU. That's a deal for a moron like Ireland.

3 times the guaranteed money of Watt. LOL spinning smiley sticking its tongue out

"He is no better than Gerald McCoy. "

Suh is better than McCoy.

Suh's team was in the playoffs last year Watt's stayed home.
