The reason for Fields is his average per punt is highest in the league, I believe. THe reason for Long, is that there are no official stats for Offensive Linemen, so when fans click LT on the voting page, they pick the most recognizable names they see.
Fields deserves it, he's been the most consistent quality player this team has had in recent seasons.
This is why I think Long will be gone after this year. His past reputation gets him in the pro-bowl, not his current play, it'll probably be the same when he hits free agency.

He's not going to be easy to replace. And I hate the ideas of letting a guy who has been in the pro bowl all 4 years in the league walk for nothing...but the worst possible outcome here is to overpay for a guy with declining skills. It will cripple our cap for years.
If there are reasons behind the scenes to expect him to bounce back next year (health? Familiarity with new offense?) then I'd be happy to bring him back for the right price. If there aren't then you have to bite the bullett.
We either have to sign Jake Long to a MARKET VALUE contract or we have to sign /draft someone else.
Cheapest option is to move Martin to LT and sign/draft a RT. Not a fan of this option.
I think Long is the best available LT....unless we want to trade up and draft Luke Joeckel....who may be just as good...or better...or not quite as good.
I have a hard time believing he is washed up. OL have long careers ( no pun intended)...he played at a high level most of his career.
Last year he had a back problem, tore is bicep at the end of the season and then sprained his MCL at the end of August. AND he got married in May of this year. It makes sense to me that these factors have had a combined effect of diminishing his level of play. These are all temporary issues ( with possible exception of the back)...you get used to marriage after the first year.
I think it is more likely that he will improve his level of play at age 28 than it is that he is declining.
In fact...signing him after his worst season might prove to be a blessing for us.

Or else some pro bowl QB's neck is going to snap like a twig.......as soon as they insert Jake Long.

RESPONSE: The article conveyed a news event.
Two Dolphins were in the running for the Pro Bowl.
THE ARTICLE DID NOT ENTITLE YOUR THREAD, YOU DID.
YOU COULD HAVE ENTITLED IT "What is this world coming to...Jake Long in running for Pro Bowl."
Don't blame the article for your lack of clarity.

Again, don't blame me because I just seem to notice that you take silly positions on the board and when people correct you, you back up and say that is what you meant all along or that you agree with them or etc.
You do a backward moon-walk better than Michael Jackson used to do.

SamSam, it is obvious that you are not too intelligent. It is also obvious that you did not make it too far in school.
It's not just lawyers of which you are resentful, but probably everybody that is smarter than you which you have already proven is the overwhelming number of people on this board and probably consists also of everyone in your life.
Your wife, if you have one, probably plays down to you so as not to strip you of your manhood.
This post is just another example of the one in the other thread when Hooligan posted
"And your point is?" and made you look like a fool.
The only thing you know is that you like Ryan Tannehill, don't let your wife (if you have one) know how much and will attack anything and anyone that you feel is a threat to him being the starting quarterback on this team.
You insulted Matt Moore, a member of this team, for no other reason than you were paranoid at the very suggestion that he could teach RT anything.
Now let's see you post again and go back with your grade school childish name calling.
But then again, that's the only intelligence level you have.
Chren quote: You are like an animal,,,,,,Your wife, if you have one, probably plays down to you so as not to strip you of your manhood.....SamSam, it is obvious that you are not too intelligent.......to ignore that you look like an absolute fool....
Dude You are squirrel supper...
See ya. loony tunes.

Thanks for proving my point and confirming my prediction. You are like an animal in the sense that even if a human tells you that you are going to act in a certain way, you go on right next and prove it.
You can't help yourself. Unlike a human, you cannot resist your instinct even when someone taunts and teases you that you are going to do it.
Honestly, you both sound like life-less idiots!! Please quit the stupid bickering. You're embarrassing yourselves!
As far as Long goes, I think he's deserving. He's been playing damn well considering he hasn't been 100% healthy. Who's better in the AFC?
He did get torched once in the Seattle game, but that move would have torched any LT in the league. Incog could have been some help. Otherwise, kept Tanney clean, and rushed for over 100 vs a top D. Solid work!

Dude don't start talking about people's wives. That can start to get real disrespectful real quick and cross the line and it's totally unnecessary, especially when you guys are arguing over something so insignificant.
If you really want to be above the "childish insults" stuff and take the higher ground, saying stuff like that isn't the way to do it. That's just my opinion.
