He's better than Alex Smith. THAT's not much of a stretch. Harbaugh has been doing his best to hide Smith's shortcomings. Kaepernick looks great because of the offensive system.

Oops Phinsfan2 was also a Kaepernick guy.

That's true Montequi, I wonder how Tannehill would do on the 49ers, probably really well..since he has the three requisites, good legs, a superior brain and a QB arm.

I liked him, but not at first.

Was really concerned about the system he played in and felt he was more of a project.

Ghotirule was right about him though from the beginning.

The more you watched him the more you liked him. The more you learned about him through the pre-draft screening process the more there was to like.

Good call guys!!

Better than Alex Smith has yet to be proven. He has played one game. Many people said the same thing about Kevin Kolb after he got on the field after injury.

Smith has 13 TD's and only 5 picks with a 70% completion rate. Has a 93% completion rate over the last two games he played. 25 of 27 for 3-4 yards 4 tds and no picks. QB ratings of 157 and 143.

He may end up being better but lets see how successful he is after teams get some tape on him.

I also liked and wanted us to draft Kapernick (thought he was the best fit for us and had the most athleticism and upside out of the three)...but I also liked Gabbert and thought Stanzi had some merit.

Agree that Kaepernick would have been worth the reach in 2011. If our lame-ass GM would have picked him two years ago, we wouldn't be in the situation we are in now.

No way that Tannehill reaches Kaepernick level within the next two years.

Right now Kaepernick is a better player than Tannehill will be next year.

By the way most people reacted to those Kaepernick posts, I can see why so many have their head in the sand about Tannehill. It was obvious at draft that Kaepernick had the goods coming out of college, just as it was obvious that Tannehill had a long ways to go before being an effective starter.

Montequi, you have to "free yourself" like I have when it comes to DolfanKing.

Although he takes what he says seriously, if YOU take what he has seriously, you will just get yourself more and more upset.

I used to do that until I learned to start looking at his posts as comedy, true unintended to be so by he himself but in fact very comical in fact, which makes me laugh even harder.

I really enjoyed that post by him. I split my sides laughing.

Take that one for instance, "No way that Tannehill reaches Kaepernick level within the next two years." Priceless comedy.

The Kid Kaepernick is good..I'm watching him take it to the Saints right now, but for the record Tannehill is something special too, just needs a little more seasoning. smiling smiley

So first he says reaching for a QB like RT was stupid since no QB that sits for a year is worth it but it would have been good to reach for Kaepernick at 15 when he actually went 36th. smoking smiley

Kapernick had way more experice in collpege than Tannehill. Not taking him was a huge mistake.

Lots of QB busts have had more college experience than Tanny. How about Chad Henne? Is that your only criteria for a QB coming out of college?

The jury's still out on Chad. Maybe getting away from Tony was all he needed.

Or getting receivers who don't whine about how "hot" and "hard" the passes are coming.

Funny we should be on this subject. Because "back in the day" I was defending Henne on this board and those attacking him and defending the receivers were saying that Henne "lacked touch."

I said that receiver are paid to "catch the ball" and there was no excuse when the ball hits you in the hands.

Now that Henne is gone and we have RT and I don't think anyone can doubt what a good passer he is and moreover, no one can say he throws the ball "too hard" but stillllllll........with not only him but Matt Moore............THE RECEIVERS ARE STILL NOT CATCHING THE BALL...NOW THEY CALL IT DROPPING THE BALL.

Shows all along the big problem was with the receivers.

Right now Henne is carrying a weak Jags team. Though he's had less playing time, his numbers have been good, a better rating than Tannehill.

Hopefully Tannehill doesn't take 4 years to start looking consistently good.

I would say it's not unusual for a backup to come in a have a few good games...even 4 or 5.

The problem is when teams get some tape on them in that offense and they can actually game plan for them.

Several have been successful as backups. Matt Moore, Kevin Kolb, Matt Cassel.

They haven't done too well when named as full time starters.

Sometimes players evolve or find the right offense like Rich Gannon or Steve Young but I can't think of too many players that have been successful over the long term.

HENNE should do well outside of Sporano's suffocating offensive strategy. I doubt he turns into star but I'll be rooting for him.

I bet he's pretty happy with some of the talent jax has invested high draft picks in: Blackmon, shorts, Lewis etc...

Good point about Sparano. Gotta love the Jets "insight" on coaches and pass rushers.

And i will add that the dumb wildcat didnt help henne either...

I remember they ran the wildcat then inserted henne on 3rd down and long....

Im so glad sparano is with the jets now.

Everyone hates the WC but it didn't seem to hurt Pennington too much.

Maybe not but just about everything else hurt him. I wish he could have stayed healthy, I really liked Pennington.

That weak arm was painful to watch as the ball just seemed to hang in the air forever. It worked for him obviously.
