Read where "Fireman Ed" left the Jests game early and cancelled his twitter account.

That puts him in the same league as some of the posters on this site who declare they're giving up on the Phins.

The ONE time I would have not minded to see the Jets win (because I live in New England *and* the Pats have a better record), they embarrass themselves more than even I could have imagined.

Still, seeing the Jets implode is good entertainment even if it comes at the expense of a Patriots win.

Good point..and....uh oh:

Does that mean he's going to be a Pats fan now?
Whatever you do, Fireman Ed, please do NOT move to the Boston Area.

LOL thats too funny.

The jets are out a mascot.

I wonder if their next mascot is going to have a huge suit and an enourmous head like other team mascots.

I Discovered my dolphins when they were the best in the early 70's. I loved them all when they were damn good all through the 80's. I will stick behind them when they suck too. I'd quit watching the NFL alltogether before I'd ever root for another Team. I have been fortunate to go to alot of games this year and trust me , the sprit is alive! Miami is headed in the right direction. The demise of the Jets is just the cherry on the Sundae.

I'll kinda miss him, I hope this is not true. I love to see the look of utter dejection in his eyes as the Jests fall apart into rubbish.

JC, I don't know how serious Fireman Ed is about quitting but I know that on this board, a lot of people have kept saying they're done each week but they keep coming back. We're addicts. And there is about as much chance that we won't watch every game we can and still come on the board and bitch and moan and swear we're through as there is a chance that a heroin addict won't pick up the stuff after making similar declarations.

The only exception I know so far is BNF and he basically said, "See ya next season."

Article from an NYC tv station's website says he's quitting because of confrontations with other fans. Not fans of the opposing teams, but JETS fans. He's getting crap for wearing Sanchez jersey to the games, and for supporting Sanchez over Tebow. He's worried he'd lose his temper and do something stupid (like kick someone's ass, I guess) so he's giving up instead.

As entertaining as this is, I *almost* feel sorry for the guy. I mean, he's constantly surrounded by Jets fans.

"I have enjoyed my time in chanting the greatest chant in all of sports."

Just out of curiosity, what is that? "We want Tebow"?

Blaming the fans -- boy, is Hambone going to be pissed he didn't think of that first.

When did New Yorkers form a society? lol.

I don't think they are a good representation of the rest of the country.....especially as fans. Although Miami fans are also very fickle.

No eesti, it's not just New York. I see the same kind of attitude out here in California.

In the 90's and earlier, all Fireman Ed would have faced was a little good-natured ribbing every time Sanchez threw an interception. But even that would have been balanced off by people looking at him and tipping their cup to him when Sanchez threw a touchdown pass.

In this world of today where the computer becomes reality and where reality shows reign on TV and where the more you make an ass of yourself, the more you are behaving like you should because otherwise, how could you make it on YouTube????

And where people get engaged to each other after having only an on-line romance and never having even met each other, that's what you get. No knowledge of how to act....no, not even a correct knowledge of how to think.

Notice how far apart our parties are? The Democrats have damn near become Communists and the Republicans have damn near become Nazis.

All that happened in November was that the Communists appeared to be more attractive to more people than the Nazis.

But there is no middle or that the middle of both parties have lost control of them.

No, it's not just New York. It's the whole country and probably worse than that, it's the whole Calendar.

Chyren, sports seems to bring out the worst in people and the best at times... While I agree, that the basic respect people pay to each other has gone down. I guess the golden rule isnt as important as acting tough in todays world.. I can tell you as a kid, there were alot more fights in the orangle bowl and JRS, then there are in todays game... I remember lots of fights all over the DOlphins games as a kid... Today it is a rare occurence...

Here in LA. Did you hear about the Fireman paramedic from San Francisco that came down on opening day for the Dodgers in 2011?

He was beaten into an about 7 months coma by two thugs masquerading as Dodger fans. He, a brave public safety officer, now has the mental capacity of a child which is a great victory because for more than a year, we thought he would never regain consciousness and would be a total vegetable hooked up to machines unless his family let him die.

Google Brian Stowe. I may have misspelled it by adding the e.
