What's up with all the batted down passes by Tanny?
The Jests are winning convincingly.
I'm also watching the Pats and they had yet another solid draft crop, all of them talented and starter caliber:
S: Tavon Wilson
LB: D. Hightower
DE: C. Jones
Our defense looking surprising good. Alot of positives and the 3 INT's have just put a black cloud over it. Its fixable. We have to see how his confidence holds up.

That's him. Nothing can be done. It's like Fran Tarkenton has gotten sack for 20 yard losses four times in a row and you say, "Well it's because he scrambles too much. Just make sure he doesn't scramble anymore.
Hey! Fran Tarkenton Scrambles that's what he does. Ryan Tannehill makes quick passes intended to go out 10-15 yards early in the play. Like they said, they figured it out from Hard Knocks.
Cut that out and you don't have Ryan Tannehill anymore. You might as well bench him and put in Matt Moore. But you can't do that because this offense is designed for RT. I'm not saying bench him.
I'm saying that the problem is not solvable. Maybe the Oline man playing in front of that guy needs to get in his grill, even at the point of elbowing him in his face. Have him thinking about more than putting his mitts up.

Batted passes are fixable, and I'm glad we were exposed so badly in this game. If we don't make serious adjustments before our next game, then our coaching staff needs to go. RT has a slight side-arm delivery, but the passing lanes weren't really there either. He has to get in-sync with his O-Line. That will (hopefully) come with time.
I hope we roll him out more. I definitely hope we don't mess with is delivery, as that never works at this level.
Those batted passes are on Tannyhill and oline. Oline needs to keep the hands of the Dline down but Tannyhill needs to see passing lanes better. If we had more competent WR corps then it would help as well. At least the running game looked decent, we were getting good push most plays.
One thing i was glad to see: Once we blew the game and allowed 3 tds in the final two minutes of the half, we didn't stop fighting. Defense didn't allow a td in the 2nd half and the offense got into the red zone a couple times but couldn't cash in. Obvious problems still there and man those turnovers lost us this game and were hard to watch. anyone else screaming at TV after 2nd tipped ball for INT?

The batted pass on 4th and goal had a really good shot of what Tannehill is doing wrong. He is following his WR with his eyes, then right before he brings the ball up he taps it - as soon as he tapped it, the Nose Tackle jumped. Result was a batted ball.
There are two ways to handle this. One - have Tannehill not tap the ball. The other is to go the Peyton Manning route and tap it when he is not throwing. The defender will then jump without the ball getting thrown and the O-Linemen can just pancake them. After this happens a few times, they won't jump anymore.
Until the team deal with this tell, there will be a lot of problems. Tannehill can definitely work this to his advantage, but he need to realize that he is in the pros now, and defenders will pick up on the littlest things.
We all knew that there would be growing pains until the game slowed down enough for Tanny to be effective. I agree that he probably shouldn't have been started in favor of a vet but felt that the coaches knew what they were doimg. Hopefully we will see gradual improvement and hopefully a win before too long. On the positive side, at least the o-line is protecting him reasonably well. If he's as intelligent as we hope then we'll see steady progress.
I can't see how you think the OL is protecting him reasonably well. He got sacked a few times, hurried a bunch, and had passes batted down in his face and intercepted. It's time we all opened our eyes to the mess that is right in front of us! this was a garbage showing all the way around.
my wife asked me how we lost---was it the OL, the QB, the D, coaching? I said how can you tell who is to blame when everyone looks like crap simultaneously?

Yes, there will be growing pains and we got a good healthy dose of them today.
RT needs to look off receivers and be more consistent with his accuracy, The O-Line needs to maintain their blocks and apply pressure when defenders put thier hands up. The defenders need to tighten up a bit more, we can't have fumbles, and our receivers need to stop dropping balls.
The up side is that these are all fixable issues...
We did have alot today that was good, just not enough given the gaffes.
our problem is ireland has been trying to fix the oline for 4 years and still hasn't done it. too many wasted picks/resources on olinemen that are subpar or off the roster already.
we have a bunch of #3 & 4 wrs on the roster. when you have zero offensive playmakers the d can pretty much dictate what they want to do. that slant was jumped because that pretty much all we have and thew knew it.

Dont try and twist things around dolfanking....
We made a bet that if tannehill started the season as the starting qb you would wear that tagline for a month..
If he wasnt the starting qb i would wear whatever you decided.
