He wrote a book recently that is really good. Especially if you are into the NY radio scene. I have some connections with that scene so I knew some of the people he wrote about. Loved the book. Good read.
Sid is good on the radio. He has had his deamons with drugs and all and seems to have finally overcome them. Which is great to see. Anytime anyone can overcome something like that its a good thing.
Two best Sid stories is when he was on Imus bragging about stealing DIRECTV with the off the market card.....DirecTv heard him on the air and went after him lol lol....The other story (more Ironic than Funny..) is when Imus said his "NAPPY HEADED HOE's" comment, Sid was in the studio that day at that moment as a guest, and for all the times Sid F'd up and got fired off that show for his comments, this time Imus did it and Sid got a bird's eye view of the whole thing and stayed quiet and out of trouble.
You can love the book all you want, Sid is a prick!
I understand the stations need ratings and I guess they need a character like this to help that. But personally, I can't even hear his mouth for a minute, he's so damn obnoxious.
I can't wait for him to get slick with the wrong person and gets his ass dropped!

The fact he gets that kind of reaction out of you, proves he is doing his job

MikeO tell us the truth.... do you want to be Sid?

Sid sucks, he can go back to NY. OJ's show was so much better before Sid came along an ruined it. I liked the talk show hosted by an ex dolphin, then they brought in an obnoxious NYer to spice things up and I quickly stopped listening. and OJ was cut..WTF. If Sid is so loved in NY, he should go back ANd let us listen to our ex Dolphins in Peace, without the razzing by some guy, who we could care less about. It would be like if Zach starts his own radio show and they go and ruin it by making FLorio his co host....lol. no thanks........ Zach I would listen to all day, Florio makes me throw up, no surprise Florio and SId are bed buddies. Florio you stay at your beloved 30 rock and get them to hire Sid as well, it would be the greatest contribution you could ever make to south Florida

His job is to be interesting on the radio, get a reaction out of people, and get people to hinge on his every word so they want to hear what he will say next. Obviously there are a few like you that don't like him and won't listen, but clearly the guy has done something right because with all of his deamons and mis-steps in life over the past decade he still has radio stations fighting over him and giving him prime radio time in great time slots in major markets and national outlets.
I don't listen to him daily but he interesting and has a unique take on things. I don't mind the guy and have no issues with him

Wow what an insult to Hank.
There are several differences between the two, not the least of which is that Hank actually cares about the Phins and other local teams instead of the New York ones. That doesn't make a difference to a lot of you, but it does to me. Hank has been in S. Fl for about 30 years, and has forgotten more about local teams than Sid will ever know.

I couldn't agree more. Hank was very close with the team and pulled interview and always had tons of inside info to share. Yea, he was a bit abrasive at time, but that was usually with callers who were making things up.
Not living in SoFla or New York, I haven't heard Sid, so I can't comment.
I meant in personality. Sure Hank did care a lot more about the local teams, and he was more about betting than Sid. I just meant they both have teh same type of abrasive personality that incites listeners. I imagine if Cossell had done Talk radio, he'd be in the same mold as Hank and Sid.

I can imagine it would be as annoying as all heck to have to listen to an abrasive New York homer on South Florida radio. But I guess Sid's presence just points to the number of NY fans that live in the area.

Exactly, it sucks and you hit the nail on the head. I know of very few Dolfans that listen to this guy, it is more the NY crowd, or the people that just love AM sports radio all day. OJ, crossed over and got people that didnt listen to AM radio but liked the Dolphins. Like I said, go back to NY, SID, we dont care. He is a NY homer. Our Am sports radio went downhill fast when SID arrived. and I like Hank alot, he wasnt a NY homer, he is a dolphin fan. He has just lost his touch over the last few years with his football picks. I use to listen to Hank alot and valued what he said.

YOu said you don't live in S.Florida and don't listen to S.Florida radio in an above post. Now you say you learn stuff from all of these other S.Florida hosts?
And OJ hasn't been on the radio in about 5 years just so ya know!

Not a fan of Sid, but he obvioulsy is well liked by alot of the AM radio crowd. I like OJ Mcduffie he was great on the radio before, Danny Kanell, is just a good guy, Dad was the team's knee doctor for ages, and local kid grew up here, besides his NFL and FSU days. Dan Morgan, I am indifferent about, and if they added Zach, that sounds like a pretty good show. Enough Dolphins and locals to give SID some of his shit back at him..lol. As much as I dont like Sid,I like th other guys enough to make it a must listen.
........TO be honest Sid, reminds me of the jerk off obnoxious NY jets fans, sitting next to you at the games, that wants to talk shit and constantly tempts you to punch his lights out at the stadium, any time the JETs do something remotely good and we do something remotely bad by his over the top actions and taunting. ALot of NY JETs fans, think they can do whatever they want in our stadium and town, and disrespect all day. Where if you were to dare do it in their stadium, a beatdown would occur. WHen I was younger, a little less mture and more reckless, going to a Knicks game or Jets games in Miami, normally resulted in a squable or two. lol

I know Sid's history. But SID was never a "STAR" in NYC. In Miami he is a STAR in the local radio industry.
