JC > Oh I'm sure he's accepted the reality. It is a distraction all right, but it's Philbin's job to move the team forward, making it a TEMPORARY distraction. Keeping him on the roster after all of his antics and lack of production, would have been a PERMANENT distraction.

Which guys? How about ALL OF THEM. Chad WAS a great receiver; he is no more. That pass he missed from Moore is a perfect example. I was hoping Chad would come back as the 6-time Pro Bowler that he was, but it was not to be. Philbin had already warned him (and the rest of the team) how things would be run in Miami. He didn't pay attention. Hell, Chad even told Weinstein (Miami's security) that he would get arrested on their day off; sure enough, he did! Chad is up in age; the young guys Miami have are coming around pretty well, and would probably have beaten out Chad for the job anyway. BTW, I don't hate Chad, never did. I respected his work ethic, but his "antics" proved to be his downfall. Cutting Chad does not hurt the Fins.
You may think that Chad is a top 3 WR, but the rest of the NFL will differ with you. The Patriots cut him because he couldn't learn the playbook. There weren't too many other teams, beside Miami, that were interested in signing him. At present, it looks as tho Chad will be out of work for a long time, if not forever. He may end up retiring.
BTW, it is highly doubtful that Chad would have demanded a double team.
Look back at hard knocks when they were in Cincy. On one occasion CJ dropped a pass and remarked. "I bet you can't find 10 drops on tape because it never happens"...or something to that effect.
HBO proceeded to show 10 drops on film. It was a knock on him before he got here. He never would admit it but he just didn't have good hands, was undisciplined running routes and didn't have the capacity to learn a new system.
Somehow he was elevated to first team right off the bat. The question is "why". It was early on...probably before pads came on. It may have been based on his quickness, work ethic and history. Who knows?
The fact is that Sean Smith ate him alive every practice. He says he is always open but he really was not.
Even in the QB meeting, Garrard remarked he needed to talk to Chad.
Personally I would rather give the reps to a guy like Hogan. Philbin said he has caught more balls than anyone in camp this year. Who would you rather have getting those key passes on 3rd down and end zone? A guy who catches everything or or guy who catches balls once in a while?
