Glad to see Philbin stand by his principles on this one.

It's about the team, not individuals attracting non-football related attention to themselves.

Agreed. It's unfortunate because I was really hoping he'd make a good impact on the team...but the right move was made.

I'm glad we were able to figure this out much faster than the Patsies were able to. We won't be wasting that roster spot.

Knowing that he was on a one strike policy, it's like he was asking to be cut.

this guy was the worst kind of self promoting reality show yahoo that unfortunately permeates our society these days. he's like the football version of the real housewives of somewhere or other. I was totally turned off buy his obvious "look at me" crap he pulled that was captured on hard knocks. glad to see him go. julius pruitt is better anyway

Unfortunately you want to give guys like this a second chance and think positive that they can turn it around, but in reality it rarely if ever happens

I really dont understand you fans that hate chad so much you are happy to see us cut him. My mother used to tell me a saying "you cut off your nose to spite your face". That means us cutting chad HURTS ONLY US!

Still dont get it ok lets look at our preseason wr roster:

Devon bess, Brian hartline, Legedu Naanee, Clyde Gates, Julius Pruitt, BJ Cunningham, Rishard Matthews

Now tell me which guys on this list give makes you confident enough to cutting chad. The reality is at 34 he is atleast twice as good as ANY of these guys and if you want to argue that there is no argument that he is definetly top 3 (and every team plays 3 wrs). We should have waited to see how things played out legally...

Tough call either way but I for one am not happy to see him leave. I want to see us win and there is not a single guy on this list that can demand a double team.

I'm not happy that a player got cut.

I'm happy a wife beater got cut.

Yeah, Reppa. I wish he could have been the old Chad Johnson of the Bengals. Failing that, I would have settled for him just being the hot dog Patriot that danced when he scored a touchdown.

But as another poster said, unfortunately, instead of looking at this as his last chance, he thought that the Dolphins proved he still had it by signing him and that he was doing US a favor. Otherwise, he would not have done this.

Also, look at his press conference on Hard Knocks. The guy looked like he had just won the lotto as opposed to having been given his last chance.

Now, he must realize it was the latter and not the former.

Yeah, good move.
Always thought he was a bit kooky, but after seeing him on hard knocks, I realize he's a total idiot!
Just lost his gig and his smokin hot wife. Douche!!

IMHO - Chad cut himself !

He came into town with a humble pie / hard work story of reinventing himself, and then just wet his pants with the F-bomb interview.

That was about enough in itself. Yes we needed a good receiver, but not as much as to put up with his crap.

The fins will be fine without #85. Too bad, cause I thiought he could help.

Kudos to Philbin for having a set and doing it quickly!

chad goofs around but he is NOT a bad character and really does not have off the field issues. Our recieving core sucks and chad would have been a starter and could have helped us.

His head butting skills must be good though since it was only accidental lol... But really not a good move on our part jmo.

I'm not convinced that his on the field skill is worthy of roster spot.

He had 15 catches from Tommy Brady. We surely can find a WR who can step in and hold on to 15 passes.

His only opportunity in preseason looks odd to me. He was open. He had bad footwork and left the ground just as the ball arrived. Poor concentration on a ball that almost hit him in the face mask. Later, he blew it off saying the preseason was just for the young players.

Our system is not single receiver specific. Our system will spread the ball around to the TE's, RB's .... just as much as to the WR's. Our Wide outs need to be technicians in the way they run routes. CJ was and is not a good fit. However, I do believe that we can walk away from this with some positives.

So when he head-butted his wife, did he do that ON the field?

It is quite difficult to give someone a three inch gash on their forehead with an accidental head bump.

It was a low risk move with a potential high reward. But, the guy caught 15 passes in a Patriots offense that needed someone to be able to make plays downfield on the outside. If they couldn't find a way to make him productive in that system, you have to wonder how much he had left.

actually it is very easy to open up a gash on the forehead. doesn't take too much force.

I got totally turned off by seeing CJ on hard knocks. Guy tries WAY too hard to be "controversial" and get attention.

I though trying to sit on the coaches meeting was pathetic clowning for the cameras, as was his "cursing" press conference. Obviously football was just one of the things on his agenda as a member of the team, and I doubt it was even first on the list. If he was actually still a good player, maybe he'd be worth it, but last season and his performance in the scrimmage and preseason game showed he really isn't even very good. See ya!!

Chad Johnson isn't even that good.

There's a reason he signed for peanuts and nobody else is going to pick him up.

Not worth the trouble. Would be different if he was a star producer, then we could justify keeping him on pending the verdict in his coming trial. As is, see ya bro.
