This is a moderated phorum for the CIVILIZED discussion of the Miami Dolphins. In this phorum, there are rules and moderators to make sure you abide by the rules. The moderators for this phorum are JC and Colonel.
I read (past tense) it to mean that SINCE he MISSED his first two passes but ended up going overall 10 completions out of 13 throws that of his last 11 passes he completed 10 of them meaning that he went "10 for 11" on his last 11 passes, not "10 passes for only 11 yards."
I posted this orignally in the other post, but realized there was this one, hopefully JC can erase the other one...
FYI- Tannehill did well, playing with the number one offense going against the number 2 defense. Tannehill never faced the number 1 defense at all during the scrimmage, yet he got to play with the number 1 offense...Matt Moore had the challenge of taking the number 2 offense against the number 1 defense.
that being said I am happy for him, but who did well in the scrimmage was largely related to what defense they went up against vs what offense the ywere playing with..

Well, I was against drafting Tannehill and I got a lot of grief for it on this board.
The people seemed to think that since we needed a quarterback and Luck and RGIII were going to be gone (and some of the more foolish ones even thought we should go after Manning or Flynn), that it was IMPERATIVE that we draft Tannehill.
Well, the front office saw it the same way.
Tannehill does have some skills.
However, those people who attacked me for not wanting to draft Tannehill and they got their way and drafted Tannehill, now see any grumbling about him not starting to be "sour grapes" by people who didn't want us to draft Tannehill in the first place.
I don't, for the life of me, know WHAT THEY'RE GOING TO DO if Tannehill does not start the first game this September.
Maybe they'll turn on the same front office that they were so happy drafted him.
However, beating a dead horse one more time, they should ask themselves, why did this same front office go so hard after Manning and/or Flynn if Tannehill was in the same league as Luck and RGIII?
I only ask that so as to tell them that it is not realistic to think that Tannehill will take over the starting QB duties this season.
After seeing more of Tannehill and hearing about how well he has been doing, do you now feel like he was actually a good pick? I am higher on him more now than ever. This guy is impressive. I think he is going to be a star in this league.
people on this board are more rational than you give them credit for. i don't think there is anyone here who will be upset if RT isn't starting week 1. I'd be OK if they sat him the whole year. I expect, however, that he will start at least the last 6 games of the season. I think they do need to get him some playing time, so that next year he won't be totally lost.

Jonathan, I like what I'm hearing. Berk, I don't either think anyone on this board are going to be upset if Ryan doesn't start on week 1.
However, let's say we end the season with either Moore or Garrard at QB. Now let's run with that hypothetical. If that happens, (and I think not only that's a good possibility but would not be an unwise move on the part of the coaching staff), as Don Corleone said, there will be people on this board who are going to be highly disappointed and are going to turn on the same front office they now praise for picking Tannehill.
Simply put, berk. I think some people on this board really think that Tannehill is as good as Luck and RGIII.
When he doesn't start at all next year, I think those people on this board either blame management or begin to chant "Tannehill Sucks. Just like every other QB we've had since Marino."
The name of my parable is that it is better to be a person like me who did not think that Tannehill should have been drafted that high than to be a "Tannehill is our saviour" guy who is going to be disappointed when he does not meet their UNREALISTICALLY HIGH expectations.
if RT doesn't start NEXT year, I think the bust talk can legitimately begin, unless either Gerrard or Moore absolutely light it up this season and are retained. Unlike Rogers, he was not brought in to learn from a legend from a few year and take over when that guy leaves--he was brought here to be our franchise QB ASAP. if he doesnt' show he can do that next offseason, then there would be legit cause for concern.

If this is truly then you should be concerned now.
I disagree. I think he was brought in to learn. You don't draft a guy with that little experience to start immediately.
Personally, I'm not concerned about the timeline. RT will start eventually, and he may even be good. But I have no expectation of him doing what you would expect from a top 10 pick. That is, start his rookie season and be a potential phenom. Just ain't happening.
Question for you guys...who was the last top 10 QB to come in and sit for a full year (16 games), start the next year and turn into a franchise QB?
Just curious...
On a side note. Last year everyone said Christian Ponder was the most NFL ready...followed by Andy Dalton who was ranked lower. They said Jake Locker (who was chosen 8th and touted as a reach) wasn't ready to play either. Knocks on him included accuracy issues, decision making, field vision, pocket awareness...boom or bust prospect....but was taken at 8th which did seem as a reach to me too.
He came in late last year in relief of Hasselbeck and looked pretty good for what little he played.

I don't think Tannehill will sit for the full year, unless the Dolphins are in contention.
He will see some action late in the season when it doesn't matter, to evaluate him with live fire.

I don't expect him (nor want him) to start this year as the starter.
I was saying he should not be expected to start his first year, but should be expected to start his second year, and if he does not, then there is cause for concern.Do you disagree with that?

Disagree. He should at least be the #2 QB in season two. If for some reason Gerrard pulls a Pennington and gets this team close to the playoffs, I can see Gerrard starting next season as well.
I think we can start calling RT a bust if he isn't week one starter in season three.

If he doesn't start by season 2, this is gonna be funny.
I will be the one defending the guy.
I should start saving all the the arguments of the "true fans" now so I can defend Ireland's golden boy from the hoards that want to run him out of town on a rail.

The fact that the some who are calling me a hater because I don't think Tannehill is ready to start will be hating on the guy if he actually doesn't start regularly by next year - yea, that is kind of funny.
