Hotels near stadium

Does anyone have any recommendations for a one night stay for a Dolphin home game trip. I will be coming down from St. Petersbrg/Tampa.

Looks like there is only one hotel near the stadium. El Palacio Sports Hotel is 7 blocks away.

I would stay on the beach but I know there are some negatives for that...

Terrible parking/deal with valet parking
higher prices
commute to and from stadium/traffic/DUI
waiting for taxi/shuttle

I think we will just try and stay close so we can walk to the game and not deal with paying for parking, traffic and having to worry about driving after a few beers.

Didn't there used to be a Don Shula Hotel close by?

My first Dolphin home ever. I've seen them in Tampa and Minnesota but never in Miami. I have great tickets for the Bucs preseason game, August 10th.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

That Palacio place I believe is the former Holiday Inn that is right at Calder Race track.

Don Shula Hotel *I Think* is/was in Miami Lakes, too far away to walk.

Your best bet may be to find a hotel that fits your budget, and has access to a shuttle bus to/from the stadium.

I haven't lived in the area for quite a while so my information is a bit dated and distanced. I'm sure some local folks will respond with better information.

The palacio is kind of run down. If you go into Dania Beach, or south Fort Lauderdale, there are some Fairfield Inn/ Marriot or SHeraton, type of hotels right off I95, that are new, affordable, and fairly close to the Stadium. You can jump on 595 to the turnpike and straight into the stadium or take I95 to Ives Dairy, and then Ives dairy right into the stadium... There are also some hotel off 17th street area in Fort Lauderdale, that gives you access to FOrt Lauderdale Beach/Downtown, and still have quick access to 595 or I95. It all depends on what you want to do while you are down here before or after you go to the game. Let me know any locations or hotels and I wll try and give you my best knowledge on the place...

Walking to the stadium might not be the best idea...

As someone who has traveled across country a couple times to catch Dolphin games, Don Shula hotel was great for Dolphin Junkies.

Healthy drive to the stadium but it was worth the experience for me.

I had a friendly acquaintence that invited us to join their tailgate party before the game....more fun for a out-of-town Junkie....perhaps you can connect with someone too.

have fun

Eesti i know what hotel you are talking about its like 7 blocks away yes i passed many times by there.....That one should do it......you should stay there its very good from what i hear. I think i heard that the players from other teams stayed there as well.

Do not stay in south beach trust me it will be a hastle for you there. Limited parking.....Far away from the stadium

there is a horse race track like right by that hotel you talking about and a casino inside the horsetrack. just before you reach the stadium.....>The hardrock hotel is a little bit more north....there is a disco and mall inside the hardrocks..>The pool is beautifull ive stayed there with my wife....My wife loved the waterfall on the pool....Has a slide all the way to the top of the pool mountain..

food delivered to you side by the pool.

The hardrocks is north by the same hotel street( university drive...all the way to sterling road...then make a right and go all the way to 441...right there is hardrocks...right on front is another casino.....seminole casino..

If you like to go to the beach go to bayside......its a 10 dollar entrance....But there are some good food in there many restaurants....All types of food....there is almost always a live band playing music...at night .And a big bar........close to still inside bayside it there is boat rides......pay a fee.....throw a pic with your wife or friends and go on a ride on the boat....

Right in front of bayside there is the miami arena where the heat play........

Bayside is right by downtown miami....right by the beach.

Just an idea of where to go and have a good time.

Eesti, there really isnt a hotel worth staying in that is walking distance to the stadium IMO... I wouldnt stay in south beach either... There isnt much going on in the neighborhood walking distance to the stadium... The closest hotel that is pretty run down an old, is probably at least 3+ miles of walking distance to the stadium. And there is nowhere you want to go around it except maybe a strip club... You can stay at a nice hotel for the same money with a short drive on a major highway, located near someplace you would enjoy staying... It is all what you are looking for I suppose...

I live close as well.....and you only live once man.....Have a great one...................Make sure you dont ask those chicks that clean the room for a bottle of water...I asked for it once since they forgot to put it one morning..............When i went home and saw the bill i saw bottled water quantity 1.....$25.00.............I said WTF...Maybe because i didnt leave her a tip the last day. I did give her a few bucks the other days i was there though.....

They charge your credit card a 300 dollar deposit which they reinburse like a month after..

If you play a lot the bill for the room comes down a lot..

i was paying about 270 per night....and since i played a lot for the week i was there it went down to about 160 or so.

Just make sure you have your card inserted into the machines when you play.........and get the points so you can get the rooms cheaper.........

But i dont have to tell you that....you already know...

And eat breakfast at the blue plate....right by the salon and spa....they serve a great turkey on wholewheat bread with bacon...

Me and my wife had a blast the days we stayed there from monday through friday....Iam positive you will too....They treat you like royalty the people that work there...

Why not? You spending hard cash and contributing to their paychecks.

PS. Huge bathrooms with a crystal door...Have fun.

SamSam- I was at a charity auction almost a year ago, I bought a weekend suite, spa treatment, breakfast and cabina by the pool, for about 300 bucks... Time is almost expiring on it, so a late mothers day gift, where I win, she wins, jr wins...lol. and it all went to a good cause, so everybody wins!

I have hung there before I used to run with some pre-whales around the Hardrock and The Cove at Atlantis...the perks were beyound amazing, everything, every restaraunt, every bar, club, fight tickets, concerts, runway fees, was fully comp. That was back when the economy was still booming though.... One of the guys I know use to gamble so much he would win the raffle car at least twice a year, from so much play raffle tickets..lol... people thought it was rigged his name got called so often in the hard rock raffle...

dude stay in south beach, and enjoy the scenery if you can afford an ocean front room. Because Miami Has some of the most beautiful women on God's green earth. So why not enjoy the sights while you down in paradise just saying. Does not matter where you stay, but try booking online at one of those discount travel sights that might save you some money. I have done that, and it does work from time to time. Any way good luck.
