We hit every dire position of need and got a cherry on top with the RB pick.

You can't grade a draft the day that it ends.

It's a snapshot in time.

It's not meant to be definitive.

It's how you see it today.

No one is saying that you should be able to tell now.

It's just about how you feel now.

BTW, the NFL network gave Patsies and Jests an A, gave the Jills a B, and gave us a C earlier today.

I feel like grading drafts the day they end is stupid.

That's my vote.

I really don't know what the hell the NFL network expected us to do. They would have damned us worse with an F if we passed on Tannehill.

Oh yeah, that's right, it's the Miami Dolphins...They all love to dog this team no matter what it does.

B, coud go to A if Tannehill turns into Romo like QB, or C or D if he doesn't and we don't have any WR that can get open!

We really won't know until 3 years from now. Like the martin & Miller picks.

Didn't draft a safety. Are Wilson, Jones, Clemons, Marshall the answer?

Is Otogwe still and FA?

Hopefully our WR corp can get separation and Clyde Gates will be the next Mike Wallace and Cunningham, Wallace or Moore can replace marshall

Mike Lombardi gave us a "C".

That was his grade, not the network's.

Funny thing is that he gave it right after Charles Davis ran through our entire draft and said he liked it very much and Mayock had agreed with Davis.

Thanks for the explanation Truth. I guess I've become accustomed to this team getting bashed by everyone as that's usually the norm.

All I saw was the two A's, the B and the C. And, to be accurate, googling Mayock and Tannehill, you get these articles, which I have not read but......

"NFL.com news: Mike Mayock: Ryan Tannehill not a top-10 draft pick"

"Mike Mayock: Ryan Tannehill not a top-10 draft pick"

"Mike Mayock on Ryan Tannehill and the Miami Dolphins: ‘You miss that one this whole regime is gone’"

"Could Miami Dolphins, Stephen Ross Be Making a Mistake Drafting ... bleacherreport.com/.../1156065-miami-dolphins-owner-stephen-ross Mike Mayock of NFL Network said Tannehill is "very raw" and said he could get "eaten alive" by NFL defenses in 2012. B/R NFL Draft lead ..."

These headlines more square with my memory that Mayock criticized the pick.

Now, at the time, only three picks were in and it COULD HAVE BEEN that Mayock was saying that he really liked picks 2 and 3 but I remember him being down on picking Tannehill.

I support Tannehill now but I'm just trying to correct tell the truth because.......

Wow, Mark, how do we reconcile what you posted with this 4-19 article?

Mike Mayock: Ryan Tannehill not a top-10 draft pick
By Gregg Rosenthal NFL.com

In so many ways, this NFL draft will turn on where Ryan Tannehill is chosen. Our own Jason La Canfora points out there's next to no chance Tannehill will get past the first 11 picks, but is he really worthy of that high a selection?

NFL Network draft expert Mike Mayock doesn't believe so.

Based just on film of his 19 starts, Tannehill "shouldn't be a top-10 pick. ... But in today's NFL, there's a good chance he will be," Mayock said Thursday on a conference call with reporters.

Mayock mentioned that Tannehill's film alone might not even be worth a top-15 or top-20 pick. He's "at least a year away." Mayock doesn't believe the Cleveland Browns will go after Tannehill at No. 4, instead targeting Brandon Weeden later in the draft. But it would be very surprising if Tannehill slipped past the Miami Dolphins at No. 8. Dolphins general manager Jeff Ireland said Thursday he won't be "pressured" to take Tannehill.

Some team will be. That's the cost of finding a quarterback.

You can grade on value. I think overall the dolphins got excellent value for their picks. I *love* what Ireland did in the 6th and 7th round. Those players were slated by most experts to go much higher. The running back from Miami sounds like a real steal in the fourth round. Martin was graded as a first rounder by most as well. Vernon was a bit of a reach perhaps. And of course Tannehill has his doubters.

So based on value I would give him a A-/B+

Well, we are technically grading Jeff Ireland as a selector.

Not the actual players who were picked, but Ireland.

Did he fill needs? Did he draft reaches or were they value selections?

That's what I am grading on. Ireland.

No idea, how to grade the draft at this point... I like the fact they got 3 players ranked in the top 40 lets hope they live up to their predraft ranking... The Oregon OLB, looks like a nice pick as well. And the 2 late rd WR's look good for late rd picks... But so did alot of players we drafted in the past, until they didnt do well with NFL speed and competition..
No grade, just my comments, take them for they are worth, which is not much at this point IMO.....

Maybe Mayock is preparing for a career in politics. I saw the Total Access Show where Mayock couldn't stop gushing about Tannehill. then I read an article where he was against him. At that point, I chose to ignore his opinion on the issue.

I'll give them an A based on the fact it doesn't appear they squandered any pics and for having the sack to finally draft a QB in first round. Maybe they could have a taken a different #1, but we won't know until the 2012 season is over. I don't really expect Miami to rush Tannehill, yet who knows... Ireland's job might just depend on getting Ryan on the field sooner than later.

Get real! The draft is just over, and none of these guys has taken a snap in the league so far. They say that it takes 3 years to evaluate a draft, and I think that might be a little optimistic. Putting a grade on this draft now is a fool's gambit-something Mel Kiper would do, and he is the quintessential fool.

I rated our draft a C.

It's obvious that it's too early to tell. Everyone is untested. So it really is a test on paper. Much like gathering parts to build a 500 hp engine. You look to see what's good, put in good machining with reasonable tolerances, and then work on tuning to reach your goal. You may succeed, you may fall short.

Here we are gathering our components. We will test them out, and see which components seem to fit the best with the others and then try to tune it all to provide the best performance.

On paper, we had a decent draft. All of us are looking for surprises, that is, exceeding the level of draft round pick. Getting more for your money!

With RT, the pundits say we've over reached, that RT was overrated and a work in progress. His experience is low in contrast to RG3 and Luck.

Okay--I buy that. We look to the future. If RT pans out he will be grouped with these other two guys and it will be fun to watch when the teams play each other.

For now--it's just an average C on paper.

The key questions are: Did these draftees improve the current roster? I think the answer is yes. How much did it improve the team? Probably, a little. Will the team be competitive and make the playoffs? It's possible. Anything is possible. Should we expect a 10 game winning season? NO.

We should expect an 8-8 season. Anything better will be candles on the cake.

Walter has those last 2 picks as A's.

You should read his comments on them, as I had to because I have no clue who these guys are. The last 2 drafted I speak of.

I gave it a B. A

Tannehill is the player I ulimately ended-up coveting. He is a special talent and fits the system. Give him time and he will be a star.

Several months ago, many mocks had us selecting Reiff with the 8th pick. The ones that didn't often had us selecting Jonathan Martin. I like super smart guys like him.

I don't know much about Vernon, but apparently the scouts loved him. I hope they are right.

Egnew is an intriguing TE with speed, length and good hands. He and Les Brown add another dimension.

While I was suprised by the pick of Lamar Miller, I loved it. I remember thinking he was a stud back when I watched him tear-up VA Tech. The stable is full to say the least.

I know very little about Kaddu. However, Charles Davis stated that he loved the guy and though he was very underrated.

The wideouts weren't highly touted, but they were certainly productive in college.

My biggest concern is that we failed to address the guard spot.
