Thank goodness for shitty blocking!
One thing I absolutely love about Ryan Tannehill....(That completely separates him from any comparison to the robot)
He came into A&M as a quarterback recruit and was asked to switch to WR after competing all summer at QB. How did he respond?
55 rec, 844 yards and 5 TD's. (2008) (including a 210 yard game)
46 rec, 609 yards and 4 TD's (2009)
2010 after 6 games at WR switched to Qb after 3 straight losses by Texas
152/234 65.0% 1638 yards 13td 6int 136.96 rating.
This with 6 straight wins including wins over #6 ranked Oklahoma and #20 Nebraska.
This shows me a couple things. Great attitude, Just wants to play no matter what and he is a great athlete capable of picking up different nuances of different positions. Plenty of guys come into college as WR's and flame out as WR's. He was successful converting....twice. QB to WR back to QB.
He will also have a great communication bridge btw he and the WR's. If the only knock on him is experience. So what. He has shown he doesn't need much experience to perform at a high level.
Dan Marino had two pretty below average years at Pit, one good year and then sucked his senior year. 17 TD's and 23 INTS. His best year he threw for 2876 yards with a 59.5% CR....in the Independant conference (Temple, Army, Rutgers) but with 5 top 20 teams.
Tannehill threw for 3744 29/15 for 61.7% his senior year in the Big 12 with also 5 top 20 ranked teams.
