Not me, being a Crimson Tide fan...there were three defensive players coming out of Alabama this year and they rank in this order:
Barron
Upshaw
Kirkpatrick
Hightower (due to his previous injury situation)
Trust me the Patsies took Hightower and we get the better deal with Courtney Upshaw.
That's Coutney Upshaw - Defensive MVP of the National Championship game against LSU, (you all remember the one where LSU barely crossed the 50 yard line on offense). - Roll Tide.

TONS of guys have been "beasts" in college and fizzled in the pros.
To me, someone with no emotional investment in him, he's a tweeener.
He's not quick enough for OLB in a 3/4 or 4/3. He's not especially gifted as a pass rusher as a 4-3 end and he's too small for a 3-4 end.
I'd rather have Curry...or branch...or Beguette in round 3.
I expect we will be a ten win team each of the next two years with Moore at quarterback. I see Tanne getting to take the occasional injury start, but we have two good years as he develops then the sky's the limit as he takes over in year three at 25-26 years old. Moore will be a good qb barring injury this season.
I think the second round pick is either Curry or Branch, if they make it that far. I predicted Branch in my mock, but now I think Curry would be preferred.
I guess if it's Curry or Branch then we know Ireland is calling the shots...if it's Upshaw then Ross has told him to go get him. The way things have been running through free agency I'll take Ross's judgement.
I guess the run on offensive line scared them into taking an o-linemen. Gil Brandt had Martin rated as the 35th best player, so a decent value, I guess. Mel Kiper liked him. Pro Football Weekly said he is overrated.
never thought martin would be there in the 2d. not exciting but you gotta say it great value, no?
I'm worried no D or WR there for us in the 3d though....

berk, if a run on WR starts I think we will trade up to make sure we get at least one guy we really like.
I've got mixed feelings on Martin. Its good value and he is a very good pass protector but he isn't great in the run game. I liked Glenn a lot more but pulling for Martin now.
i know the fact he's a braniac doesn't matter at all, but this is pretty freaking impressive. i know CB would agree
April 27, 201242nd pick- Dolphins select Stanford Tackle Jonathan Martin. Evaluators talked about him being a natural bender, plays on his feet, heavy hands and can cut off wide rush. They did mention he has the tendency to lunge and lose balance.
Martin is a semester shy of getting a degree in classics – ancient Greek and Roman history – and he would like to be a trial lawyer someday. He resisted a strong recruiting pitch from Harvard to go to Stanford. Both of Martin's parents, Gus and Jane, are Harvard graduates, and it's believed he would have been the university's first fourth-generation African-American student had he gone there. Martin's great grandfather on his mother's side, John Fitzgerald, graduated from Harvard in 1924 and knew W.E.B. DuBois, the famed sociologist, historian and civil rights activist (and a Harvard man, as well.)

Martin has the best feet of any OT left at our pick. He's also very intelligent.
Probably the best fit for our new zone blocking scheme.
He's also Jake Long Insurance. If we can't get a deal done with him at a reasonable salary then we can trade him or even if he walks next year, his replacement is on the roster.
Really wanted Vinny Curry but I'm happy with Martin.
i want another 2d round pick. tons of talent. i say trade our 2 3ds for a 2d and a 5th. take best WR or pass rusher on bd. still can get a top flight one of either!!

would have like curry but I'm good with Martin. One thing to consider is that next years DE/OLB class is supposed to very good. We might wait til next year and try to get a stud.
I like the Martin pick, even though I had other guys I wanted there as well
