Yeah, well some people questioned why we even took Marino in the 1st round when he had Cocaine questions AND he never even completed 60% of his passes while in College.

3. or a really tired phin fanatic...tired of all the crap thats been going with this team for the last 20 years.

I am only going to go by what the "experts" are saying -- a WCO like Miami is (supposed) to run does not require that "beast" of a WR. The ball will be spread around.

Philbin is our coach; look what GB ran; look at their WRs.

The WRs Miami presently have fit into the WCO. They will be looking for that 5'10" - 6'1" guy. They may break that mold if a big WR is there who they have a high evaluation on that will fit what they want to do.

Concerning Bess; what I have heard is that happened some time ago and he should be good to go for training camp (if not earlier). Hartline fits the WCO extremely well and if they can get Gates on the same page, he will be dangerous.

I was excited they took a chance in the 1st rnd. and finally drafted a QB prospect, I just watched the Gruden camp with Tannehill, now i'm actually pumped about this kids potential. He has all the tools and smarts to do great things, after watching that camp, i'm convinced he has the drive also. Sky's the limit for this kid.

Not sure, Odden, that Miami has been conservative; I believe it was more their philosophy. Parcells had a formula and he was going to stick to it. When he did veer away from it a couple years ago, it was to pick Pat White. Parcells' philosophy, IMO, is outdated. This is now a passing league and you have to draft accordingly.

If you are talking about the 10 years or so, then most of it was stupidity (Eddie Moore, Jamaar Fletcher, etc). Miami had the wrong guys making the calls.

I too am pleased that Ireland went against the grain and took a chance on drafting the position of need (Qcool smiley although Tanney was basically rated as a second rounder. Miami has fooled around long enough with the QB position and has drafted about 10,000 QBs in the second round to no avail. Ireland is rolling the dice with this one, and I am confident he had Ross' full endorsement.

I don't necessarily agree that he has to start from day one; Danny boy didn't start until around the 4th (?) game. Tanney doesn't have a lot of playing time at QB (college) so it will take him a little time to get used to the speed of the game. Work him in at his learning pace. If he learns quickly and is ready to go by game one, then put him in; if not, get him in there when he is ready.

Have the Dolphins had a QB (since Marino) that had this combination of measurables, raw talent and smarts?

I think the answer to that question is no, therefore it was a reasonable pick at #8, even if he won't play for a while.

We needed a qb bad..........The first two ranked qbs were taken so we took the best 3rd option.

I will take that any day...

That it was kind of a reach?...Yes..But.....

Imagine if we would had taken a punt returner instead of the 3rd best ranked qb when the first two qbs were taken....

Just imagine how phins.com aka dolphinland would be right now....

Even i would declare myself a dam troll.

Absolutely #3. I'm no longer willing to believe. I'm not taking anything for granted.

While I really want Tannehill to succeed, I'm not going to drink the koolaid until he proves it to me. In order to prove it to me he needs to do these things:
1. Consistently score TDs in the red zone.
2. Show that he has a killer instinct - make big plays when we have a lead in the 4th qtr.
3. Lead this team from more than one TD down in the fourth qtr.

So far, I've seen none of these things. While there has been promise - running the offense, pass selection, deep accuracy - I still haven't seen the "clutch" aspect necessary to be considered "elite".

I'm hoping, but I'm not there yet.

RE: If you aren't willing to believe then you have no business being a fan of any sport...belief is all we have most of the time no mater the city, the sport or the era. After all, only one team is sucessful each year, the rest are just different degrees of losers.

RE: OK, but you really don't have to bash him routinely either, like you do...when is the last time we had a QB that showed ligitimate promise running the offense, pass selection, and deep accuracy? (You're words not mine) THOSE things alone are reason enough to be stoked as a Phins fan, IMHO. But wait, there's more. He's been getting better, and more consistent, from game to game...something we haven't seen in a QB since Marino's early years.

Am I really bashing him, or are there just a lot of people that respond that I am bashing him?

There are nut jobs that keeps on clinging to the notion that I want Tannehill to be a bust. I don't. I've praised elements of his game several times. Nobody seems to remember that.

hey where's my quote? I was wary of the pick but said now that he's our QB I'd support him, and we really had no choice but to take him. I think I've pretty much held to that re the support, and he's playing much better and sooner than I ever thought

I think Tannehill has played well, but he is hardly elite at this point... I still think some of you are so desperate to have the "next Marino", you are a little bit dillusional about what he has actually done. We are still talking about a guy who has more interceptions then TD passes at this point... What happens when the day comes when he actually has more TD' passes then interceptions and a better QBR. WIll he be "god like" at that point, maybe we can call him Appollo or Zeus.... lol...
I am glad he has played better then I expected, but I also think many of you are pretty foolish about this guy and personally attacking anyone that disagrees with your assessment.. I have never been so disgusted with this board as what I have seen many of you "pro Tannehill" guys have acted towars others around here... How many threads did you guys get blocked yesterday acting like children in a middle school fight... smh again... pretty pathetic...

I missed what ever he posted and the edited it to delete the whole post.

What did he say?

I'm interested because it came after I posted that he had forgotten to include me.

If THAT set him off, WHY did it set him off, I want to know. I mean I wasn't criticizing him or suggesting that he was ignoring me, I was just adding my name to the list.
