The only way to grade/measure a rookie QB is by TD to Int ratio and W/L record. It is very black and white.
Forget about getting better every week, learning from your mistakes, the ability to make every throw, cutting down on turnovers, running the hurry up offense as a rookie, being a leader, throwing catchable balls on a rope in tight windows, playing well under pressure, not crying like a Newton when you lose, etc, etc.
All those things are unimportant when it comes to QB evaluation!
Yes and any fool could tell they were going to suck because Elway was only completing 47% of this passes and threw 7 TD's to 14 int's and had a 4-6 record as a starter. Through his first 6 games he threw 2 TD's and 5 int's.
Manning (the scrub) completed 56% of his passes and averaged 1.75 int's per game. He finished 3-13. Through his first 6 games his TD/Int ratio was 6:14. To be fair, Peyton didn't have much talent around him. The only players he had we Marshall Faulk, Marvin Harrison, Ken Dilger and maybe a few others.
