Well, he's a Miami Dolphin now and just like every Miami Dolphin since Bob Griese, he has my support.

Wow. This pick was so obvious it’s pretty amazing. Just about ALL the “professional” mock drafters had this one nailed. Talk about telegraphing your intentions! Anyway…

In support of the team I’ll support the pick, and mostly because Sherman has so much insight about the kid. On the plus side Thill is very bright, great size, good arm, good on the move, very good athlete for the position, and seemingly has a lot of upside.

But, it’s quite obvious now the entire past 4 years have been running in circles and we’re STILL firmly entrenched in the rebuilding process. Having to burn #8 on a “project” QB means one less potential impact player on the roster with no immediate solution for OLB/DE, RT, S, WR, and TE. Sure, we’ll be able line up dudes at those positions, but how many of them will have legit long-term answers?

Right now it sure looks like we’re dealing with yet another 2-3 year plan BEFORE we’re ready to compete with the big boys. We can only hope we have a series of highly productive drafts AND Thill is indeed the long needed solution at QB.

I’m really glad Ingram landed outside the AFC East. Though the Jets and Cheats both picked up some solid potential at D, I think we’ll be relieved not to have to face Ingram 2 times a year.

And speaking of that, what kind of garbage is Denver allowing Billygoat to move up like 6 or 7 spots for a measly 4th??? Yo Elway, I always though you where Mr. Ed kind of stupid but man you really proved it on that one! I just don’t understand why teams keep giving the Cheats these sweetheart deals...

All I know is we better hit some home runs tomorrow and also find some buried treasure later in the draft or we’re just falling further behind. And I’m sick of it…

Classey Response Chyrene! thumbs up

I know your not high on him, but I'm excited about the upside this kid has. Last year at this time we were looking at a draft with No new QB and Henne as the starter. Sooooooo glad to be done with that and just have a fresh new face. Now we need to plug some holes on both sides of the ball!

ABOUT TIME.

This organization has played conservative when it came to their 1st rounders for years and I for one am glad to see that Ireland, for better or for worse, seemingly has grown a set of balls and rolled the dice.

I support and approve of the pick. This franchise has needed a QB to call its own since Marino retired. I'm sick and damned tired of the revolving door that is the QB position. It's pathetic and in a league were if you do not have a QB, you don't win, it's long overdue that we start to gamble with draft picks at the MOST IMPORTANT position on the team.

RT was the best QB available when our number was up. Dear Mr. Ireland, thank you for finally doing something about what has been the position that has blackened the eye of this organization for over a decade.

I see talent in this kid. Way more than say Sanchez. I disagree with the posters saying we should sit the kid for awhile. RT has experience running a version of our offense. He is a top 10 pick. You don't draft someone that high to sit him on the bench. For better or worse he needs to play from day 1 and establish himself as the leader of the team. I fully expect some mistakes and a learning curve, but I also expect success sooner than later and a QB that fills our #1 spot at the position for 10 or more years. If anyone else expects less, they need to reevaluate what they should get out of a top 10 pick.

“I didn’t take him with the eighth pick in the draft to be a backup quarterback,” Ireland said. “I picked him to be a starter at some point."

Interesting yet obvious statement.

So here we have it....

I've made it known very recently that I'm not high on Tannehill as a top ten pick. Regardless of my personal opinion and my reasoning for it, what matters the most is this entire coaching staff & FO were unanimous & confident with their decision to draft this young man with our 1st pick at #8. I can accept that.

So with that being said, I will support our new QB 100%, & I really hope that what seems to be a 13 year curse at this position will finally be over.

Lets go Philbins' Phins (& Tan The New Man)!!!

Dolfanking,

You sign up tonight and your first 5 post are all "Tannehill will be a bust".

Wow, welcome to the board. How about taking your negativity back to the other board.

I don't think Tannehill is sitting 2-3 years. I think he is sitting 1 year. He may not even sit the full first season - I can see him starting mid-way through this year, depending on how fast he develops. The thing is, he will not be starting at the beginning of the season, and I don't think it's a big deal if he sits his whole rookie year.

I agree.

Tannehill is a very strong competitor. Let's be realistic, he hasnt even stepped on the practice field and he already knows the offense better than anyone. He does have an advantage.

Maybe he gets to camp and gets right to it. probably doesn't though......I see Gerrad getting the Nod if he's healthy and Tan needs to sharpen his pencil and pay attention.

I fully expect (and hope) that Tannehill doesn't start much this coming season. He doesn't need to be fed to the lions just yet. Leave that to Moore or Garrard.

Omar Kelly said he spoke with Ireland, Philbin, and Sherman last night...

He said it was obvious that IRELAND wanted Tannehill more than Philbin, Sherman, or ROSS did.

That's just a matter of grades. The question is are Philbin, Sherman, and Ross happy that we drafted Tannehill. Last thing we need it major disagreements about our 1st round pick. That would be a very bad start for this FO.

Well seeing the high-fiveing after the pick kind of sealed that for me.

Hopefully tannehill works out. Joe rose was saying on the radio how tannehill was one of the few projects taken in the first round.

Its going to take 2 or 3 years.

And he has a cpuple of scrubs to learn from. Not looking good.

For the sake of this organization i hope he turns into a good player or else we are in trouble.

IMO I believe its too much money to invest on a project.

There were other position players that can start right away.

We pick last in the 6th or close to last.... From 1 to 5th we should make some noise. This draft is deep we shold get at least 4 guys that can start at least in a couple of years.

Wheedon has serious, serious questions.

He ran a fluke offense. That when ran properly he excelled. But when pressured, he fell apart.

Either way, I could care less, Wheedon is a Brown.

Tannehill is a Dolphin.

Was talking to a friend who is a Giants fan during the pick.

He was listening to Kiper say the only issue with the kid was some questionable decision making...my friend said: "if that's his wife, I don't see how anyone can question his decision making."
