Ryan Tannehill had 5 starts less than Tom Brady, and a lot more than plenty other great NFL QB's.

The inexperience argument is garbage.

Not to make comparisons, but didn't Newton only have one season under his belt?

Henne may have had the "tools" (debatable) but he clearly lacked "it"---whatever it is that makes a QB a winner in this league. Time after time with the game on the line he couldn't even get us a 1st down. I expect nothing different in Jax. You either got "it" or you don't

Henne was a slug. Not a leader. He had no fire.

I've been a Michigan fan since the days of Anthony Carter. I can't help it, I am biased toward Wolverines. I would love to see us get Junior Hemingway in the late rounds. I could care less about Texas A&M, so I have no bias for Aggies.

Good PR form his Camp

I was thinking. Can Gt\reg Cossell or Gil Brandt get paid to promote of they are not affiliated with a team?

I'm not real sure why some of you guys still follow the team. There is such a loser mentality, is it even worth the frustration anymore? A QB that we may/may not t be interested in gets a few glowing reviews, and its "those guys are getting paid to say that", a reporter writes an article pointing out that Jeff Ireland isn't as hated around the league as some would think, and its "that's just a fluff piece to get on his good side".

Just curious, is it really worth being a fan of a team that causes you guys so much anger and hatred?

I was Henne's chief supporter on this board.

Henne did not have the "fire" to be a top QB. Maybe where he is, he will realize that a QB is a leader and not a follower.

Matt Moore immediately did better than him when he shook off and refused to run many stupid butt plays called for by the coaching staff and OC. Maybe Henne will learn from that at Jax.

Now, one also has to take into account, as I posted in the thread on this board entitled "Jets" that a great deal of Henne's failure to produce in the red zone was due to the fact that he was ONLY ALLOWED to be in IN THE RED ZONE after the coaching staff would pull him OUT FOR THE FIRST TWO PLAYS and run the Wildcat.

He was then confronted with 3rd down when he came back in and almost always 3rd and more than 5. Easy to figure out in that instant.

All you who criticize Henne, I'd like to see you be taken out as QB for the first two downs after you and Ricky and Ronnie have driven the team 60 or 70 yards to have them run the stupid wildcat FOR TWO DOWNS and then, after it fails to get a yard, be thrown back into the game and told to produce a score other than a field goal from 3rd and 10 at the 20.

I’ve said several times in the past, and others have as well, the big advantage we have is inside info on Tannehill. So for that reason alone we have to give our FO the benefit of the doubt on this kid, thumbs up or down (note: if this new regime proves to be suspect then the benefit will be terminated in a timely fashion).

The same benefit applied for Flynn, and we obviously know how that turned out.

On a different note, I find the potential Tannehill gambits and subterfuges to be quite interesting. For example, if we’re not sold on the kid and yet we’re making it appear we are, that could certainly impact draft decisions that precede our pick. And perhaps we “persuade” a team to bite and thus get an opportunity at a higher rated player (per OUR draft board). Or, if Tannehill “falls” to us at #8 and we pass, how will that impact the general perception of his NFL game? Could we parlay that perception to our benefit? I seriously doubt we could create a vortex that has him tumble to us in R2, but if we trade down from #8 to somewhere around 20 – that’s a different ball game.

But yea, it’s all conjecture on our parts because none of us are on the inside of the decision making process.

I like the fact we have legit options in this draft and I hope we take the player(s) we have the highest confidence in to POSITIVELY IMPACT the future of this franchise. It could be OL, WR, DE/OLB or QB. I truly believe those are all viable choices for us @#8.

And of course trading down is something I’ve been on-board with for months.

Just make us amazing. I’m OK with that.

BNF.

Heard Tannehill on Sirius yesterday, I was impressed with his demeanor and attitude, not sure that makes him a good QB or not but he was impressive none the less.

Look I like this kid and I am ok if we take him even if we trade up.

Moore is going to start for us this year anyways so he will have a full season to learn.

I do not think we re-sign Moore unless he has a all pro year.

Tannehill to me has everything needed.
His biggest issue is his accurancy over the middle in tight coverage, which to me suggest lack of experiance in the footwork, and reading of coverage's.

He will master that to go on to being a franchise QB. I also believe our system is set up for him to succeed right away and if he would happen to start for us this year Reggie Bush will go a LONG way to help him as a fail safe option do to no number one wr.

If we don't draft him then Im ok with it if we go after Brock. However I do like this kid and I hope we go after him.

But berk there is no qb after griffin and luck.....But you are right ive even preached before taking all qbs for the next 5 or 6 years in the early rounds until we find the right one.

Ive been one of them mark....I agree we should take a qb in the first until we find the right one....I just have a feeling that after luck and griffin everybody else is going to stink....

But again ive been one of those people im not going to deny it.

A wet firecracker. He just stood there until he got sacked and i was sick of it. No mobility although good arm but definetely had no fire and crapped everytime he had to make a comeback. Not one single comeback from henne.

And he had quite a few tries to come back in the forth. Not once.

EDIT. Ive supported every single dolphins qb while theyve been here henne
even john beck. As long as you are a member of the phins i will support you...Even players such as ted ginn whos only highlight while he was here was 2 returns for tds against the jets and a win.....For that am a fan...

But when you go to another team let the other team fans root for you.

Henne was what you call a bust. But i stuck with him through thick and thin until there was nothing else we could do with him.

MNF against the Jets in 2009. Against the Pats in '09, too. OT win against Green Bay in 2010.

Three QB's drafted by the Dolphins since Marino left. Chad Henne, Pat White and John Beck. All using the same logic you guys who are against drafting Tannehill are using: "Don't reach in the first round, get a bargain in the lower rounds". Three QB's we passed on in the first round since Marino left. Drew Brees, Arron Rodgers and Matt Ryan. Again, using the same logic. Reach for Goodness sake! How can it get any worse? You guys who don't wanna reach are fine with Moore and Garrard right? Well we still have them. For 8 years now we've been afraid to 'reach' in the first round and have sub .500 winning pct to show for it.

I think i will change my mind.

I wouldnt be upset if we reached in the first round for a Qb for the next 10 years.

Jay Fiedler, Brian Griese, Ray Lucas, Daunte Culpepper, Gus Frerotte, AJ Feeley, Joey Harrington, Trent Green, John Beck, Chad Henne, Pat White, Chad Pennington, Tyler Thigpen, and Matt Moore.

And Ryan Tannehill, while lacking experience, has more potential than any of them.

Some people think it's hype. But, Tannehill has a higher grade than Locker, Gabbert, or Ponder did last year. He'd have been the 2nd QB taken in last year's class. Why is that? It's not his experience. It's because of his skills, makeup, and potential. And what is wrong with taking a chance on that?

The other thing I took from this interview, Seattle (mainly Pete Carroll) is acting like they are VERY interested in Tanehill, could be a HUGE smoke screen but they crashed the Dolphins dinner with Tannehill, and Carroll had his ring tone on his cell phone set to the Texas A&M fight song. Could you imangine if they took Tannehill @12 after signing Flynn?

You know exactly what i mean berkley. Until we get the right guy.

It could end the first year....Whens the last time we picked a qb in the first round? My oldest is over 20 now.....He was using diapers the last time we picked one.
