All those guys that were mentioned could end up as busts. Haven't we all seen those "sure thing" LBers, DEs, etc., end up playing behind someone else, released, or traded away because it turns out they weren't as good as everyone thought them to be? Granted, QBs are also a gamble (Leaf), but teams that are in need of one must, at times, take a gamble. This year the gamble would be Tannehill.
Now, you mentioned Moore, et al, can play until Miami finds the next Dan Marino. There aren't too many of those around. Out of this year's QBs, Luck is the only one who may be that guy. So, do we just ignore the QB position until the 2nd round (like Miami has been doing for the last few years), or does our brass go out there and take that chance that Tannehill may just be the guy?
How long do you guys want the organization and its fans to wait until the next Dan Marino comes up in the draft? About the only way that can happen is if Miami finishes with the worst record in the NFL and that guy just happens to be sitting there at #1 for Miami to draft. First off, Miami isn't going to finish this upcoming season with the worst record, and second, another Dan Marino won't be there in next year's draft. Barkley is no Marino!
So, if Miami doesn't draft Tannehill at 8 (if he is still there), then we fans will just have to continue on and hope that the 2nd or 3rd tier QB that Miami drafts comes around and surprises everyone.
Sorry, I say if Tannehill is there, Miami must draft him.
