Good call not a reflection on Marshall I think we need the picks. Marshall has done more for this org than Philbin so this does not prove Philbins gotta pair.
You mean the "Monster" is gone....think he was due about 27 million over the next three years...gives us back about 5.5 towards our current cap. 35 million already invested in him...
We'd better get something in return for the cap space cleared or this is a failure. We need a big time receiver now, hopefully one who can streach the field.

If we don't get Manning and a legit #1 WR and just let the only real weapon our offense had go for 2 3rd rounders, it's time to give up on this team. The years of incompetence from the ownership and front office has made our once great franchise into a league wide joke. Too tough to stand by and watch the parade of idiots continue to demolish what once a great team.

Agree, a second at least next year would have made more sense. We gave up two seconds and had about 35 million already invested in the guy.
Well, If you don't have a QB guess you don't need receivers. I say we 'save our way to success' by signing an average OL and DB we cut in training camp
Seriously. I don't know what they're up to but WHY isn't mMarshall worth more than 2 3rds!!!! I mean end of last year. once we got an decent QB he started to look good. WOW! I am amazed. Not with the trade but with what we got.

You people are Nuts. You happy with the way things went last year?

Yes, Marshall was the key guy on offense (despite bush's 1,000 yards), but there is still a lot of off season yet. We need to just sit back and cool our heals and see what Miami has up their sleeves.
I hope this is a well-thought-out chess move, not a checker move. We'll all stay tuned in for the next "happening" and see how this drama unfolds. I just hope it has a happy ending.
I don't see how people are saying we got nothing in the deal. most WRs go for less---s holmes went for a 5th, randy moss went for a 4th, TO went for a 2d to the eagles. 2 3ds for a WR with drops who is a known personality and suspension risk is pretty good IMO. just b/c we overpayed DEN for him doesn't mean getting 2 3ds 2 yrs later is a bad move

In 2009, Miami finished as the 15th best offense in the league. That was with Chad Henne throwing to Ted Ginn, Davone Bess, and Brian Hartline. Brandon Marshall arrived in 2010, and he "boosted" us to the 30th best offense in the league. In 2011, he was the key player on an offense that ranked 20th in the league. In the last 3 years, the best offense we had was without him. So, what exactly did he do for us?

Well it's a done deal now. Unless we sign a big name now in FA, we'll have to hope Blackmon falls to us at 8th pick or go for Michael Floyd who was supposed to go mid to late first round. Floyd looks to be a good strong receiver type replacement for Marshall. Some of the draft sites had Chicago picking him in the first.
If we don't get Manning, and we sign Flynn..I'd settle as a fan for this. Otherwise we're just plain stupid in that trade today.
Be nice if we could pick up maybe Reggie Wayne, or some experienced vet in free agency and still grab a guy like Floyd in the draft.
I dont get it, he's not fast, drops a lot of balls, bitches about not getting the ball, very expensive and is a known head case at times, his 2 yr avgs with us; 83 catches, 1100 yrds and 4.5 tds, average numbers for a #1 WR (except for the TDs) IMO. Add in all the drops at crucial moments in games, and I dont see what all the complaints are about?

Reggie Wayne. Robert Meachem. Mario Manningham. I'd take any of them. Don't forget, Clyde Gates caught two passes last year. He needs to take on a bigger role. And if we don't get Peyton Manning, you need to think west coast offense. Smaller receivers, faster guys, guys who get in and out of breaks quickly, and get open quickly. It's a different type of receiver. And it's also about spreading the ball around. We don't need one guy to get 30% of the targets.
I don't want any of the Colts WR's Wayne probably has a year left, Garcon drops balls every 5 minutes, Clark's not more of an upgrade over Fasano. Marshall was a very good receiver, T.O. and Chad are head cases.
2 days ago I posted we should trade Marshall to CHI. I think it means that Manning is not coming. My only problem w/ Marshall was his calling out Moore this off season. No way would I bring him back if Moore is number one going into the offseason.

Totally agree, you always need that big target in the Red Zone however, and Michael Floyd could possibly fit that role.

Damn! It just hit me! Maybe that's why Denver was so willing to get rid of him in the first place!

As it stands right now (position wise) we were better with him than without him. We just need to figure out who we're going to replace him with....it aint gonna be Wayne, he just signed back with the Colts. Getting rid of him means we opened a new and pressing need for the offseason, one that can't be addressed with a third round pick.
Sounds like this has been in the works, His BS at the pro bowl likely the last straw, new regime wants nothing to do with him
You know that he came up yesterday, and Phins already had plan of action. Have to give them kudos for showing some guts although the Rams might have given us a second, but maybe not with his baggage

Of course we are, another third receiver, bargain basement reject from Dallas. Must have been in Ireland's crystal ball for some time now as a replacement for Brandon Marshall.
Apparently we are looking at signing Laurent Robinson. So essentially Marshall would be substituted with Robinson and 2 3rds. Does that make it less hard to swallow? I am going to wait for the dust to clear before I make any judgements on this.
Sounds like we won't have the space to sign Manning. I am starting to hope that Flynn signs with Cleveland and we draft Tannehill in the 8 spot.
