Why?

Im not so sure he fits in the WCO, anyways. Seems like an unnatural WCO WR to me.

Dont take all these rumors as concrete. The odds still say Manning isnt coming here.

Just understand the obvious. Philbin and Sherman do not want Brandon Marshall on their offense.

We just lost 1200 yards and 6 TD's a season for two 3rd RD picks, I surely hope we have a plan to replace those yards... We havent had many 1200 yard WR single seasons since Marino.... He did it with Moore and Henne.... We also eat a good chunk of dead money....watching the newswire for the rest of plan....tick tock tick tock...

A&O,
I read that the trade of Marshall saves us 5.8 million in cap space this year but we eat the rest of his salary on our cap, somehwere around 4 or 5 million against our cap this year

We all must wonder how hard did Miami really try to get the best deal possible for Marshall? I would accept this year's 2nd and next year's 3rd, but two 3rds?

Miami must have really been desperate to dump him (for whatever reason).

No, I don't own any jersey's. I'm speaking solely as a fan who cares about winning. As someone who wants the Dolphins to be good and not bad and not the laughing stock of the league, like we are at this very moment.

Today the Dolphins threw their star playmaker, their only elite talent, dominant weapon, and legitimate threat, Brandon Marshall in the trash. And for 2 measly 3rd round picks. Worst move in the history of this franchise. Pathetic. I'm done. I'm done.

Kind of surprised by this move. Not sure where it's all leading. Lots of speculation on ESPN about it and they seemed just as perplexed as I was.

I agree with ChryenB about Marshall being a head case. I'll add he was just too disruptive. He'll be back with his former QB and that's cool for him and the Bears are now a better team on paper. He'll still drop too many passes--even with them.

Two third round draft choices--I wonder...are they going to be offered to another team as part of a bigger trade?

I think the reason is so they have ammunition to make another trade likely for another WR in the draft. They have to have someone in mind to replace him or they would not have done it. Yes it's a big gamble because rookies don't usually produce 1200 yards in thier rookie season. I doubt it has much to do with Manning...I think it has more to do with speed, quickness, explosiveness, and team mentality.

His skill set is totally offset by his cancerous personality and
propensity to drop TD passes. I’m glad we got some draft scraps
to rid the roster of some disease…

Dear Headcase, good luck freezing your ass off in Chicago.

Marshall didn't fit into Peyton's offence.

This is the best news I could have got today. Woo hoo! The selfish diva is gone! Teams don't win with guys who always put their own self importance over that of the team.

Number one, they didn't trade him for nothing. Trading him freed up $6M in cap space, because he counted over $11M against the cap this year.

Two third round picks? That's good considering the size of his contract, and that he has proven that he is not a top 5 or even top 10 WR.

The free agent market has a glut of WR this year. After a couple of early big deals that will happen, it's going to turn into a buyer's market.

The west coast offense doesn't put a huge value on big WR. You want guys who are fast, and get in and out of their breaks quickly.

The WCO is all about timing and precise routes. You throw to spots and guys have to be there. Marshall is well known to not run routes very well. He also takes a long time to separate, which leads to the QB hanging on to the ball and staring him down. You can't have that in the WCO.

In the WCO, you also spread the ball around a lot. On the majority of pass plays, there are 5 guys in the route. And if you are force feeding the ball to one of them 30% of the time, you are giving away your advantage by helping the defense know who they need to focus on. Think Marshall would be happy with fewer targets?

I am sure that Peyton Manning didn't want to deal with his diva-ness. If Manning is the route they are going, this also creates the space needed to sign Wayne. Other than size, Wayne is better than Marshall in every way.

If they go with a young, unproven QB like Flynn, you don't want Marshall bullying him into forcing him the ball even when he's covered. We've seen that act before, and didn't work out well.

If they wind up with Tannehill, they are in rebuilding mode, and keeping Marshall around makes no sense. He's also not the kind of WR you want a young QB to deal with. You want a kid to learn to throw the ball where he should, not where he feels obligated to go.

This is good. This improves the rhythm of our offense. Look at it this way. Since Marshall has become a starter in the league, has he ever played for a team with a winning record? or a team with a top 15 offense? Nope.

This was a bone head move any way you slice it. Unless there was an upcoming DUI and subsequent league suspension in the works that hasn't been made public yet, then this move makes no sense. Even if they have plans to "replace" Marshall, who is it with?

Yea he dropped passes but led the AFC in yardage and was a top ten receiver. There's not an equivalent free agent available to match what they gave up... And for 2 bs 3rd rd picks?

Just plain dumb. They have cap room. They are trying to pretend that they are as bold and fortuitous as Belicheck by dumping their top end players for value, but this screams a virtual lock to blow up in their face. See any pattern here?

Just when I think I can't get more pissed at the management of this team, they sure find a way to make it worse.

Just dumb.

According to Peter King, we tried to trade him before last year's draft, but no one would touch him.

So, a number of people have been opposed to the idea of signing Manning because it's forcing him on Joe Philbin, and not letting the new head coach build his team the way he wants.

Do you think this move was done without Philbin's endorsement? Not a chance. So, why not defend this move by saying it's Philbin being allowed to mold the team he wants?

Marshall's stats may mean a lot to fans who went out and bought his jersey. But, it doesn't mean he has a positive impact on the football team. Does anyone think Don Shula would ever have tolerated Brandon Marshall? Absolutely not. Coaches don't care about stats. They want guys who play their role on the team and do what they are asked to do. If you put your own ego above the good of the team, you're gone.

This is a good sign for this organization.
