To each his own, but I hate NASCAR myself. The NBA has some of the best athletes in the world. There's just as much defense as offense. I find it similar to football, just a whole lot faster without the breaks in-between plays.

I hear you TCPF...there definitely is a drop off after the season ends. A bit of withdrawl.
But I love this time of year.
For me the worst part of the football calendar year is the 2.5 months after the draft is over and the start of training camp at the end of July.
Thats True Truth. The Build up to the draft feeds the monster a bit. But after that its boring. Hopefully its boring anyways. That seems to be when the DUI's , and stabbings happen.

That's why I made sure I got a service that carries NFLN. Football year-round, along with the combine, Path-to-the-Draft, and finally the draft itself.

TOTALLY! Thank God for The Heat or this time of year would be unbearable! And with the lockout-shortened season there's like a game every other day. I've been lucky enough to make it out to a couple games at the arena this season and we had a great time. Watching those guys every night is freakin awesome. What with all the fast breaks, monster dunks, alley-opps, Wade and James plays slashing to the paint and finishing in spectacular fashion, it's like watching the Harlem Globetrotters out there sometimes. Definitely some of the most exciting basketball the league's seen in a while. Every game is like witnessing one long 60-minute highlight reel. Go Heat!

Thank goodness that there is MotoGP, WSBK, Moto 2, AMA SBK, Daytona Sportbike, Supercross, Motocross, GTP, GTU, Daytona Prototype, and the Touring Car Championship.
Basketball is very boring, Baseball has lost it's luster (if anyone wants to know why I'd be happy to explain) and Soccer gets little real coverage...JMO.

hahaha, have you even watched any Heat games?! They're insane! Some of the most exciting, thrilling action you'll find anywhere. The speed of the game punctuated by all the fast break plays that go for wild alley-oops and monster dunks that posterize defenders creates an exhilarating pace and an electrifying momentum and the highlight-reel play of Lebron James and Dwanye Wade is utterly ridiculous. Whereas most other teams have only 3-4 of the type of plays a game that bring the house down, when I watch the Heat games I find myself jumping out of my seat and roaring in amazement at the end of those kind of wild crowd-pleaser plays 12 to 15 times a game! It's ridiculous how exciting those guys are.

Uhhh yeah there's a reason for that. In your statement "Basketball is very boring" replace the word "basketball" with the word "soccer" and then you'll have your answer for why soccer gets little real coverage. Talk about booooooorrrriinggg. I'd stare at a wall before I'd watch an entire soccer game. With no periodic progress like big plays and 1st downs like in football or the frantic exciting momentum that comes from scoring back and forth as one team starts pulling away with the lead, amidst big shots and thrilling drives to the paint to finish with exciting dunks, soccer is a whole lot of nothing happening outside of an actual goal being scored, which happens only once in a blue moon in that sport.
There's just something about watching hours of guys futilely kicking a rock around a giant desert wasteland of a field 5 times the size of a football field only to head to the locker room with a final score of 1-0 that just makes me want to claw my eyeballs out of my head Event Horizon style.
Soccer has by far, the best all round athletes. Has anyone ever seen a basketball player do a back flip after a slam dunk? Watching world dominating teams like Brazil, Spain or Germany play is thing of beauty. There is a reason why it is by far the most popular sport in the world.
If you want a high scoring affair, watch basketball. If you want speed and hard hitting, watch hockey. If you want to confuse your friends, watch cricket.
Yeah, I've seen that too. Now if you were to see a WR catch a 50 yard bomb on his foot, tap it to the other foot without it hitting the ground, straight up into the air in one motion and then kick it another 30 yards into the corner of the net wouldn't you sit up and take notice?
That my friend, is Brazilian soccer.
Hockey can be low scoring too sometimes, yet it's the fastest team sport in the world. Fluid, graceful and exciting to watch. The forwards substitute about every 90 seconds with no stoppage of play.
For all the "excitement" of the NFL, in any given game there is only 12-15 minutes of real action over the 3+ hours it takes to complete. The rest of the time is guys standing around, huddles, commercial timeouts, etc.
Soccer is 45 minutes straight (plus stoppage time) each half. no commercial breaks, etc. Matches are done in less than 2 hours.
As for popularity, the Super Bowl was viewed by roughly 100 million people. That's about half of what typically views the Champions League finals
