Is Matt Moore really THAT good, or are the new rules helping?

if we draft a qb i think he will have to be for hype and to fill seats because i said before i like what we have a qb. Both henne and moore can win so i dont see the need to replace them unless we can get a face of the franchise like a tebow or bradford (dont mean game wise but more so the hype they had coming in)

But keep in mind he's put up good games against some bad pass defenses and struggled against better defenses that have a pass rush and some corners who can play man to man.
He was great against Oakland (garbage), Kansas City (garbage) and he's been great against NE today, which is the 32nd ranked pass defense in the NFL. So you gotta keep that in mind.
That said, again, the guy can play ball. He does have some deficiencies in his game but he's definitely someone I can live with as our starting QB.
Still want to try to trade the farm for Luck, though.
Ahh when I posted that it was not really a comment on Moore's skill, it looked like the upset was going to happen,as MIA was up 17-0, and the Phins would drop out of the top 10 draft range. Game doesn't look so locked up anymore.
I really don't see the point of this thread. What difference does it make? I haven't read one person on this board that has said that IF WE COULD we shouldn't draft a QB in this year's draft. The only question is if we can. No one is suggesting that Matt Moore is so great we should stake our future on him. To everyone he is at best a question mark. So who cares if it is the new rules making him look good.
Dont be fooled, my friend, there are a handful of people around here who actually dont want us to draft a QB and want us to keep Moore as our starter next season.
One thing tells you how good Matt Moore and for that matter this whole team is. THE INABILITY TO GET IT DONE WHEN NEEDED. The Denver game. The game last Saturday, etc, etc. How many times this year has this team, on both sides of the ball, been in a position to make ONE play and pretty much put the game away? They can't. They are mediocre, period.
What cant be measured, and what I feel most of you around here are missing is the leadership skills of a true franchise QB.
He wont let his team faulter. Those are the intangibles that seperate the good from the elite.
I feel, in my opinion, if we had Drew Brees, Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, Matt Ryan, Ben Roethlisberger, Eli Manning, Matt Stafford, we would be sitting at atleast 13-3 right now, with the #1 seed in the AFC.

EXACTLY. Moore IS a better leader than that automatron Henne....but that really ain't sayin' a lot now is it?

LOL......henne and moore will get us to the playoffs in your dreams.

You're right but there is an even greater danger. Berk, would disagree but that greater danger is that the same brain-dead playcalling has survived Sparano.
I will address berk's point that we should not blame losses on bad play calling more fully than even here in another future post.
But what good would it do for us to draft a franchise qb and then end up with the same poor record due to bad playcalling?
To summarize what I will argue to berk, most games in the NFL THESE DAYS are going to be close. The blowouts are the exception, not the rule. If not given our record we should not have almost beat the Patsies in both games this year. Nowadays, you can't plot to blow the other team out and then blame yourself for failing to carry through THAT game plan.
Most games are going to be close and if they are close, having the non-players affect your chances to win them with stupid decisions is inexcusable.
I would say yes, he is pretty good. As of week 16 he is rated as the 11th best quarterback in the league. Regardless of the rules, All the quarterbacks are playing under the same rules, and he is still ranked 11th out of 32 with room for improvement
I think Matt Moore is good. I also think Daboll's system has improved Matt Moore's game. I like him because he is a scrappy ,gunslinger who plays with a lot of heart. And because he isn't a fairy like brady or sanchez.
But Matt Moore, in big, crunch-time situations, does what every back-up QB does....he poops his pants.
It fine and dandy to be a decent QB, through the first 45-50 minutes of the game, but when its on the line....thats what matters. And that right there has proved that Matt Moore is not starting material in this league.
Sorry Aqua, but you are smoking crack if you think the Dolphins will only win 2 games next year with Matt Moore.
You need to actually watch him play.. he typically throws the ball to the correct receiver, you very seldom if ever see him make a stupid throw like henned often did.
his only flaw is he holds the ball too long in certain situations.
If we stick with matt moore we will never ever amount to anything................................................................................................................................................................
we could definitely make the playoffs with moore. the Jests made the AFC championship game with sanchez and Moore is much better than him.
i am all for drafting a franchise guy. i hope we do it. but you guys don't give moore any credit. the guy has played some really nice football for us. he is not going to be the "savior" but that doesn't mean he sucks
Sanchez sucks. But if you go look at the film, Sanchez has always played his best football when the game is on the line....that is opposite of Matt Moore.

I don't know. Moore looked a hell of a lot better than Sanchez today.

The film I just watched had the 'chize throwing a 4th quarter pick.

Sanchez has had 3 seasons. Moore has had less than a season.

Wrong. Matt Moore has 25 career starts.

You are right - I forgot about Carolina. Thanks for the fact check. Moore had 25 vs. Sanchez's 47.
But Moore's career passer rating is 7 points better than Sanchez, and Moore has half the INTs.
