Is it even a guarantee we will select a QB in the 1st round?

Year after year after year we all think we are finally selecting a QB in the first round only to be disappointed yet again.
If we don't get the 1st overall pick to draft Luck how do we know this front office will even select a QB first round?
What if Ireland is still here and just won't go for a QB?
Logically we have to select a QB in the first round at this point but unfortunately the long suffering fans of this franchise don't get to make that call.
How will you guys feel if Ireland is still here and passes on one of the highly touted QB's with our 3rd- 6th pick?

Whether we take a quarterback or not, and where, depends on who is the coach, the GM, and what THEY think of the guys we have right now, as well who may be available in F/A.

Are there ever? If a QB lasts into the 3rd round, they're either NOT highly touted or there are some major red flags surrounding them. Either way, a QB drafted that low is a gamble. If we already had a franchise QB, I'd be happy with us taking a QB that low that we can groom for the future (or let go if he doesn't work out), but if we're counting on a franchise QB, we need to pick them as high as possible.

The Vikings be off the list as well because they took Christian Ponder in the last draft. I agree on the rest. Hopefully we'll lose to the Redskins so we can lose/win a tie-breaker there. Denver beat us, which is also good. I think we're going to have a legit chance at the #2 QB (Barkley).
question is, can we get the 2d best QB in the draft without having to trade up a bunch of picks to do it? that's what each win going forward will mean, assuming we beat the skins
