Treat him with dignity? Like he did John Bonamego last season? Please.

You never fire a HC during the season unless you have an able bodied replacement. That means somebody qualified to do the job successfully and who is ready to step in and do it immediately.

Gruden or Billick might be ready to coach again--now.

Keep in mind Sparano is well paid and he's not orchestrating a team to become winners. This is a business and if you compare it to other businesses, when thing go awry, it's time for new leadership. You try to stop the losses, not let them hit the bottom and then hire a new leadership staff.

I used the words "leadership staff" because we don't need a management staff...that's what we have now and they aren't cutting it are they?

The ball is in Mr Ross' court, so to speak. So, we wait and see. The %$#^ has hit the fan and hasn't settled yet. More to come on this, I'll bet on it.

I know it would be a long shot,

But, why not try to bring in Gruden, Billick, Cowher or Fisher immediately as an assistant Head Coach to assess, advise and assist Sparano...you know, get him some seasoned help with the job. He might learn a thing or two.

Best case scenario would be that Sparano learns and gets better at his job...thus making the team better.

If the situation calls for it at the end of the season then you make a change to a new guy with the benefit of a full off season to prepare.

The bottom line is that every fan could see that certain aspects of this team were less than satisfactory. However, somehow the coach doesn't see it. Out of all the positions, the quarterback needed to be addresses the most and they failed to address their problem. Henne looked good the opening game, but that Patriot defense is awful. He has done poorly in the red zone and the 4th quarter when it counts.

With any luck we will lose all our remaining games ensuring two things. Andrew Luck will be our future and attract a coach that can lead us. Unfortunately this team is just good enough to end up the second worst team in the NFL. I can see it now. We manage to beat the Chiefs for our first and only win, Sparano pumps his fist even though it ruins our chance to get Luck.

That wouldn't ensure Luck is in our future...for that, we'd have to actually call his name on draft day.

The bottom line is that the coach must have the authority and thus the ability to call all plays.

Even with the personnel we have on defense, which is not that good, we could have won maybe all three games with better defensive playcalling.

That's true. I am sure they would consider Long's eventual replacement.

This goes both ways. Even with little to no defense, the offense was in position to score enough points to win every game. If either the offense or defense did their job, we could be 3-0 or 2-1. But, to have them both fail to execute each game is pathetic.
