Clays not worth the franchise tag and giving it to him changes the starting point for your negotiations from 6m a year with to 8.5m a year, and it doubles the guaranteed money you have to give him. If you are going to throw huge money at Suh and re-sign guys like rt17 and pouncey you are going to have to stick to your price points on other players.

I'm not opposed to bringing Starks back if he takes a big pay cut down to say $2m a year. I doubt he will. Right now I'm figuring we cut him and use his money to sign a run stuffer like Dan Williams to play next to Suh. Suh, Williams, Mitchell, Johnson, Francis/Coleman/Rookie should be just fine.

I think they can fine you, take picks away, and take cap space away. I believe San Francisco lost a pick years ago for fudging the numbers. And I think Dallas and Washington had to absorb cap penalties 2 years ago for being over at certain times.
