Ross is a billionaire; safe to say he has more irons in the fire than all of us, especially big irons. Maybe the guy is trying to clear his head or celebrating the Patriots' loss to the Broncos. Don't always think Ross is stupid our out to lunch etc. You don't become a billionaire by chance.
Moreover, you can conduct a hell of a lot of business outside of your "office." And, th

Don't get too excited about this hire, just be pleased that Sherman is out and new blood, young blood is now in place to help produce a thriving offense. We all know what didn't happen. We can all go over the dismal stats on the running game, the sacks, the lack of imagination etc.... It all comes down to this fellow assessing the current players and talent and addressing what can be done with

Okay. Position is filled. We watch and see how things transpire. We all need to be hopeful this will translate into something very positive.
I wonder what other coaching positions will change.

I saw the local news last night at 11 and was relieved to learn Jeff Ireland is now history. Hopefully, the next GM, and I don't have a clue and can't even make a fair guess who it might be, has a great eye for college talent and FAs. We've sure had enough of the "pig in a poke" draft picks and FAs during Ireland's tenure.
A new era begins.
Mr. Ross you've made a good decision.

Refreshing news. Hope we land a savvy OC...not a dinosaur with old fashioned offensive concepts. One who is flexible and won't be happy with an offense that barely can score 20 points per game.

If you can't find a better coach to replace Philbin and company, then things will remain the same. We don't want, what is called a lateral move, and stay where we are, solidly in mediocrity. A new HC must be proven, must be able to make this team consistent, solid, and a real threat at home or at away games. That guy must be able to energize the players, to keep them on their toes, to have them

Here's wishing that all Miami Dolphins fans will finally have something special to cheer about in 2014. Happy New Year guys.

Dolphin--one's motivation fluctuates. A leader tries to build a corps of people around him (or her) that are naturally motivated to succeed. Yet, among them, the level of motivation is not constant. Ray Lewis tried to psych up his teammates for every game...to put their war paint on, so to speak. His teammates already had motivation, he just added more energy to that motivation. He fueled the f

I like you post, but must comment on the Wheeler and Ellerbe purchase. Neither of these two LBs are deserving of the money the Dolphins graciously paid them. Neither have shown their touted ability to be an improvement over Dansby and Burnett. One of the main reasons the opposing running game was successful against us was how this pair played. Add the inconsistent play of Misi in the mix and the

Referring to Philbin:
"The team plays with no fire, no passion. The man doesn't inspire.
He has the charisma of an oyster. He's not a leader, he's a bookkeeper."
I believe that's a pretty accurate assessment Hooligan2 based on his appearance, behavior on the side line and during various pre and post game interviews. He has a bland, boring personality.

None of the above is my answer as well, but I seriously doubt wether Ross could find a proven HC willing to take the job.

The general or colonel in theatre is responsible for the overall outcome of the battle(s). It's on him. Same should apply with a football team. The ultimate responsibility is on him. It's not on Ireland or Ross. True they are at the "head table" but they are not charged with the responsibility of prepping the team, getting them schooled, getting them ready to play hard and effective

Balance. We need some balance. Swing passes please. Some sweeps. Some intentional runs by Tannehill. We are too easy to figure out when we attempt to run will Miller or Thomas.

If they Dolphins put their best effort together they will win. If they make the playoffs...the stars were aligned in their favor. We will know tonight for sure.

Why were the Dolphins so ill-prepared for the Bills. Why didn't someone on the field see that Tannehill's cadence was cueing the Defense rather than surprising them? Why were there adjustments made to counter the hard rush?
If you have a poor strategy and it isn't working, you move to plan B or C. The Dolphins continued to do the same things with no apparent adjustments being called.

Life is full of ups and downs (peaks and valleys). Yesterday's dismal performance put the team as a whole, right at rock bottom of that valley. Now, it's up to everyone, from HC down to the locker room scrub, to reach down, shake this off, take a deep breath and unite with new found energy, vigor and enthusiasm to play hard and beat the Jets. That includes a viable game plan.
If they can't

Old? NO. Stupid and set in their ways? Absolutely. No adjustments made worth noting.
Run defense--safeties and linebacking below par.
Offense: did RT roll out once yesterday? Did he throw one pass on the move? When the front line was continually out classed, we did nothing that I noticed to combat the rush. Did we try a swing pass? I don't recall seeing one.

jsm08--I'm not talking about being a flaming wild man when things go to hell; I'm talking about some emotion, some life to his comments, a spirited remark or two. A motivational comment.... Not the boring, mundane...Buehler...Buehler....
Finshady...his emotions with his son is in another category...a private one. His shows a total lack of spirited emotion with this team's play, good or bad.

We faced a superior defensive line; a strong offensive line with powerful running backs. Totally mismatched and outclassed today in every way.

Wow--what a dismal display. Buffalo outplayed us everywhere except the kicking team. There remains some very glaring holes in our offense and defense. 19-0 only special teams and Fields showed up to play today.
Joe Philbin's low key post game comments on the 5th Quarter program showed quiet disgust. He didn't throw anyone under the bus as they say. His calmness bothers me though--I sure wa

When Clay was drafted, I wasn't sure how he was going to fit in offensively. He was a hybrid: FB or TE? He showed spurts of athleticism and thought he was a player. My hopes were high. Then as time passed, my opinion of him declined. After a while I thought he might be cut until Fasano was traded. With Keller getting injured, I thought we'd be in serious trouble, but Clay's number was called

Bob McNair, CEO of the Texans was honest when he spoke of this being business and result oriented. Winning is good; losing is very bad.
I saw McNair's open questioning about the decision to fire Kubiak. He was candid, matter-of-fact, about his release. From what I saw of him, I sensed that it was a difficult decision personally, but one that needed to be done following Thursday night's 11th

Yes, it's very easy to become too impressed by the win against the hapless Jets. Geno Smith is well over his head right now and his replacement Matt Simms didn't have enough "practice" during the week according to commentators, so, he was in it to finish off a lousy Jets effort.
As to Tannehill, he does show promise in the short game, hitting WRs pretty regularly, moving the ball

Next up--Steelers. They've had a lousy season (5-7). Wallace returns to his former playground. Will he be covered or will the Steelers DBs covering him be uncovered? Which Dolphins team will show up in a stadium packed with rooting Steelers' fans? A running team, a passing team, balanced attack? What about the weather? Will the weather be a factor? Rain, sleet, snow, cold? To early to tell,
