What was the draft where Wanny (dog sh*t be upon him) took Eddie Moore (WHO?!?) in the 2nd round? That was probably the worst draft. (Although that might have been the year of Ricky).

I am not sold on the Jets at all. They came within a hair of missing the playoffs. Where would all this hype be if they ended the season 9-7 with all of that free agent talent? They are the 1995 Dolphins. They got very lucky playing a complete a shite Cincinatti team 2X and then playing Norv "The Eternal Loser Who Somehow Keeps His Job Year After Year" Turner in the div playoffs. I

I made a draft spreadsheet many years back that I cant seem to find now. Basically I found that it is significantly harder to find a premier DE in the later rounds than it is to find a stud RB. Although I would have been happy with a blue chip skill position pick in round 1, I can't balk at the fins for taking Odrick. Interestingly, LT was the position where you were least likely to find even

But did they really "panic"? Misi looks like a beast and by all accounts was a great pick at #40. Edds sounds like a fine player. To me, neither of these picks had the "feel" that they were desperately reaching to fill a need. I could be wrong, but that is at least how I see it. And then they took some dude late in the 7th round who sounds more like a special teamer.

Mike, I think he meant that the 2005 rookie class overall, not just what the fins got. Do the stats bear that out?? I dont know. I would be curious to see some kind of analysis on it.

Travis Daniels was decent for one season and then he dropped off the face of the Earth. And I meant grading the entire 2005 draft, and comparing it to the scores given at the time.

For some real fun, we should be grading the 2005 draft.

I disagree. There really were no Pat White-esque headscratchers this weekend. Even in the late rounds, they got some very nice value. I think Jones is going to turn out to be a steal. You make a good point with respect to R&R. I would be loath to rely on either alone for a full season. But together, its hard to consider that position a weakness. I also consider the fins success on the gro

The professional evaluators should by no means be immune to criticism. I thought at the time that taking Pat White was ill-advised. But having said that, its hard to find too much fault with Parcells and Ireland so far this offseason. At the very least, they seem to have done a reasonable job.

ChyrenB, How do you figure they were just trying to find "average" players in the draft? Odrick, Misi, Jerry and Jones all have very high upsides.

The only criteria for grading the draft at this point are... Did the team adequately address its needs? and Did the team get good value for each selection? Granted, the second criterion is somewhat subjective, although there are clear cases when a team takes a player too early (i.e. there was an excellent chance they could have gotten this player in a later round).

I would liked to have have taken a TE, maybe a WR late. Carroll is a real project and was a reach in the 5th round. Other than that, I am pretty happy with the draft. Throw in Marshall and Dansby and its tough to find too much fault with the front office this offseason.

Wow. Gotta side with MikeO here. Going into the draft the linebacker corps was in complete crisis. The fins D is heavily dependent on linebacker play. These is an excellent chance that 3/4 of those LB picks will all contribute, both as starters and in rotation. Saying the strategy here was to take 5 or 6 players in hopes of finding 1 starter is completely misrepresenting the situation.

290. Re: jets
Everyone keeps saying the Colts are going to win. Why? THey are just as gutless as San Diego. Manning is OK, but the rest of that team sucks balls and eats ass. No defense. No running game.

Dolphins are a f*cking joke as well. Cant beat Texans and Titans at home? That would have kept the Jets out of the playoffs. Dolphins are the new Jets.

Norv is the biggest loser in the NFL. Look how conservative he was playing. Everybody knows what a loser he is. Everyone but you and the Chargers FO apparently. F*cking Jets are going to the SB because the AFC is gutless.
