I have to agree with Montequi. What's a need and what isn't? A lot of our starters are coming back. But you look to see if you can upgrade a position you had problems with last year. And we had problems defending the run. Opponants found that even plays designed for small gains got big yardage against us last year. We couldn't tackle. And I understand it's important to have a pass rush, but

You know, we think about these skill positions more, like corner and wr. We think about other receivers making spectatcular catches and scoring fast on us. We think about no one to catch the ball for our own team. But what we forget is that we let teams run the ball pretty good on us. They got big chunks of yardage and then they were free to either run or pass on later downs. We couldn't wra

We didn't overpay for Crowder, and that's the key. We're free to do anything in the draft. I can see that we're looking to fill a lot of holes, and preventing new ones from opening up. I guess I believed all that crap about us letting people go, and instead, we're resigning these people one by one. Smart thing to do. Center is probably next. It's clear to me now that the Dolphins front offi

No white boy can compete in the nfl without supplements unless he's naturally bigger and more solidly built, like Jake Long. If he's of average size, or shorter like Izzo and Zach were, they need help. The thing is, there are all kinds of ways to give your body an edge without the off-the-shelf steroids of years ago. Growth Hormones are a big thing, and I'd say about half the players in the nf

Since we've been hearing it so much, it may happen. When Ferguson doesn't play, the line suffers. He's only playing one or two more years. We may very well pick up Ron Brace, but if we did hopefully it would be the 2nd round. I wouldn't mind that. Personally, I think Parcell's comment about needing "firepower" is a little bit of subterfuge. I think it'll be another year of reb

I like Nicks too, I hope he's there in the 2nd round. I would have no problem with him being our 2a pick.

Or, what about Beckwith? James Laurinaitis - Ohio State (HT: 6'3" | WT: 240) Projection: 1st Round Strengths: -great athlete, was considered a good NHL prospect in high school -son of former wrestler Joe "Animal" Laurinaitis -productive, 3-time All-American -continues a rich tradition of Ohio State linebackers -speed, can get sideline to sideline as fast as any MLB

Did you notice Ron Brace's name is coming up a lot lately? He's menioned right up front in that article, also. Are we really looking for a NT?

It's great news they signed Carey. There were just too many holes on that line. Plus, it's good to have consistency in the unit. You can't just plug people in and out and expect performance for the whole line. We're paying long and carey a lot of money. So I don't expect us to go after a high paid center right now. The draft is looking better for a center, now.

I was shocked they didn't franchise Carey. It's a hole I didn't figure they'd open up. Dolphins have already said they're moving Satele. That means we're aquiring or drafting a center. We could use a good guard as well. Now we need a tackle to add to that. The only thing I can figure is that besides the money, a big factor must have been that they're not that impressed with Carey. He w

There are some very good centers and guards available, and some will even drift into the second round. So no matter what, we'll be upgrading our line. What a relief. As far as #25 I really do think that we're going BPA, excluding WR. So whatever there's a run on early on, we'll be doing the opposite. If there's a run on O linemen, we'll pick up a talented DE or linebacker, and vice versa.

Just ignore the stuff about welker if it bothers you. I didn't read the article for welker, just our decision to move Satele. I think we need significant help on the O line, there's no guarantee if Thomas will be as effective as before the injury, so I wouldn't mind if we used both FA and draft for the line. I read somewhere that Parcells said he needed 18 players. So we'll be active

I don't know why Gholston hasn't performed. He looked like a keeper before the draft. He still may be. From what I recall the guy played pretty well against us in games.

Our front office picked Henne, and they're going to prop him up until the time comes if ever, he doesn't perform. They defended Wilford for a long time too until it came to the point they couldn't anymore. I think it's just wild speculation that Henne is "definitely better" than Flacco. Flacco showed his talent. Remember, Flacco was one of the first players we showed great inter

Mack will go the first round, and I can't see how Mayock rates him as number 3. He's the best center in the draft. But he's not perfect and he struggled against big linemen at the bowl according to what I read. There's that eternal question mark with rookies...how will they translate to the nfl? What's the guarantee he'll be better than Satele? Honestly, I'd rather keep Satele where he is

I wanted Jake Long pretty early last year, and pushed for him even though only 2 mocks out of a bunch chose him. Then Jake moved up the mocks and the rest is history. However...in retrospect I think I was wrong. We would have been smarter to pick Matt Ryan. Not that I'm unhappy with Jake...he's our cornerstone for years to come, and who knows if Ryan would have gotten hurt with our crappy

I agree that this draft will just be an extension of last year's draft, picking up where we left off. After 08 draft, I assumted we were set on the lines, we were going to run the ball up the gut and our D will stop the run. I figured (wrongly at the time) that the following year the focus would be on skill players. But then we watched the season play out, and it was obvious we struggled to ru
