Aqua, in all honesty you would say the pick makes sense if they took a Punter 8th overall. You're the resident cheerleader of the phorum. That's your role and you play it perfectly man

I have no idea how Tannehill will pan out. But I do know that alot of the same people on this board who praise Tannehill for his "elite athletic ability" are the same ones who 365 days ago were criticizing Jake Locker and Christian Ponder for a very similar skillset. Interesting what a little Jeff Ireland kool-aid can do.

Mike Mayock...the same guy who did not think Cam Newton would be successful in the NFL.

I saw him in person last fall and he was impressive in the game against us. With that being said, I watched several of his other games and saw a guy who look uninterested most of the time. I understand that UNC was a in a transition period last season, but if he can't be fully invested in a season determining his NFL draft stock, you can't expect him to be motivated on a rebuilding Dolphins te

I don't need another NFL team to watch. I prefer watching college football. Always have, always will. But as a fan of the Dolphins, we all have the right to think for ourselves and not ignorantly believe that everything Jeff Ireland touches will turn to gold.

The same people who say Ireland had no say in that draft will be the same ones who defend Ireland if he passes on Ryan Tannehill this year. If Ireland passes on Tannehill and drafts a different QB in the 2nd or 3rd round, they will then praise his genius and post youtube videos of a QB who that know nothing about, but they suddenly become a believer in.

I see what you're saying Chyren, I just dont really like Weeden. If you watch alot of college football you see Oklahoma State quarterbacks putting up huge numbers year after year. I think its more a product of Mike Gundy's system than the talent of Weeden. Personally, after Luck and RG3, I'm not overly impressed with this draft class and I think the talent drop off after Tannehill is substant

Chyren, honestly I'm not crazy about Tannehill, but I do think he's a better QB option than anyone on our roster. So with that being said I would be fine drafting Tannehill or the best defensive player available. Just my personal preference, but I love watching great defenses. Give me a really good QB and a really good defense and you're always going to be relevant . That model has been succe

Chyren, the most recent Steelers Super Bowl winning team did not have a great offensive line. In fact, Roethlisberger was the most sacked QB in the league.

Gary Kubiak runs a west coast passing offense in Houston, which he learned under Shanahan. If Andre Johnson does not fit the definition of elite WR, then who does?

The Eagles run a west coast system. I think Andy Reid would agree that Desean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin are pretty critical to that offense.

Average is 55+ huh? Might want to check some math. The most sacked QB in the NFL in the 2011 regular season, Alex Smith 44. So please Crowder explain how "average" is 55+?

No need to repeat yourself, I did not miss that part. I simply gave you the number of times that Rodgers, Roethlisberger and Stafford were sacked. All ranking in the top 6 most sacked Quaterbacks in the league. Just thought you might like to know.

Aaron Rodgers was sacked 36 times during the regular season. How many games did the Packers lose? Roethelisberger was sacked 40 times. Matt Stafford 36 times. Both playoff teams somehow...

And as for my rose-colored glasses, they tell me that Matt Ryan was drafted by a 4-12 Atlanta Falcons team. He went there without having Jake Long to block for him, as you referenced. Yet somehow the Falcons organization found a way to build their franchise around Matt Ryan. And 4 years later that franchise is in MUCH better shape than Miami.

Chyren, let's look at the recent days of the NFL. Tell me if you see one thing in common with the recent Super Bowl winners? 2012-Giants-Eli Manning 2011-Packers-Aaron Rodgers 2010-Saints-Drew Brees 2009-Steelers-Ben Roethlisberger 2008-Giants-Eli Manning 2007-Colts-Peyton Manning 2006-Steelers-Ben Roethlisberger 2005-Patriots-Tom Brady 2004-Patriots-Tom Brady

Bradford got injured quite a bit at Oklahoma with a stud offensive line. Blaine Gabbert looked poor because he's simply not that great of a QB. Same can be said for Ponder. Crowder, how did Cam Newton look behind the same line as Matt Moore in Carolina?

Chyren, 99% of the time I agree with your posts on here. But not in this case. You can't compare today's NFL to 1983. Two completely different games. And yes I would prefer Matt Ryan without Jake Long. We could build around Matt Ryan. Did the Packers build around a LT or Aaron Rodgers? The Giants built around Eli. The Colts built around Peyton. The Panthers built around Cam.

I agree Jake Long is an elite LT. But what impact would you say that he's had on the Dolphins?

Truth, you may have always argued the importance of the QB position but Phinsfan2 preached the need to build an offensive line first.

Mark, those are nice stats. However the Boston College teams that Matt Ryan played on had terrible talent around him. He got the absolute most out of the guys on that team, whereas alot would say that Tannehill and A&M greatly underachieved.

For the most part it seems like the majority of this board now sees the importance of the QB position and what it means to a franchise. However I can remember back to draft debate between Jake Long and Matt Ryan, when this board overwhelmingly wanted an OL over a QB. Many posters on here claimed that a great team has to be built from the trenches. So here it is in 2012, the offensive line is s

Absolutely Reppa, I see what you're saying. Logan does not have elite speed, he has an elite skillset. And you're right, anyone who has watched him play would not compare him to Pryor or Vince Young. I think Logan Thomas is a more chiseled and mobile version of Big Ben. With that being said, I honestly have no idea if he'll be a good NFL QB. I don't even know what to expect out of him next season

Reppa, while I agree with you that Logan does not have the speed of Vick or RG3, Thomas is still an elite athlete. Each April the team has something called Iron Hokie days, during which each player is tested in major strength and agility drills. Last week Logan broke every QB strength record at Virginia Tech and ran a 4.54 40. Not RG3 speed, but quite impressive for being 6'6 254.

Logan is in fact an incredible athlete. He has all of the tools physically, but just needs more experience. He now has one full season as college starter under his belt. In high school, it was not until his senior year when he played QB full-time and gave up his tight end duties. The guy has the body of Cam Newton, but with much more to offer between the ears. He just needs more experience at

Hey Aqua, just a little FYI on Logan Thomas, he did in fact play TE at Brookville. They ran a 2 QB system, where Logan played both Quarterback and Tight End. He also played defensive back. (In case Rivals.com didn't tell you that)
