I honestly can't believe we passed on this kid. We deserve to suffer, and Mallet is in a great spot to develop into a Fin killer.
Drafting him at that value spot is EXACTLY the type of move winners are built on. We, on the other hand, find ways to leverage mediocrity into more of the same.
Just awful.

A good majority of his passes were like 5yarders(most of yardage was from after the catch) and it helps inflate the stats when T. Bouman keeps giving you the ball right back. He also played against 2nd and 3rd stringers.

we should have drafted him, but oh well
we really didn't need to spend a 2d rounder (after a trade up) on a RB, they are a dime a dozen and there are tons available
It's not about 1 preseason game in any way shape or form. It's about the simple FACT we don't have monkey poop at QB and yet we passed on a prospect that has legit NFL ready chops. Chops way beyond what our current poop does.
I mean SERIOUSLY, you don't think Mallet would look good on our roster?
These idiots can't solve the most fundamental puzzle piece on the NFL board. Their answer was…to draft NO ONE and pray to the football frogs that Henne magically morphs into a player he’s NEVER DEMONSTRATED he can be. Just kiss him. He’ll play better.
Not. I mean get real. We’re talking about Chad “The Sloth” Henne.
It’s like, “get open by 20-yards, I’ll miss you by 10.”
Or, “I kind of pretend to look down field as I piss my pants and dump off.”
Or, “I don’t know why the ellipsoid tumbled end-over-end like a retarded quail coach, but I think the OL missed a block…”
Or…
Hello. Our secreting QB weapon is more apt to be a legit pastry chef than a bonafide NFL passer. It’s laughable and shameful. And it’s such a broken record the fans will chase him out of town the first chance they get. So like it or not, he’s got a BIG TARGET on his back. And when he crashes and burns, the fallout will be inclusive.
But then again, like I said, he could be all-sloth and make it to the sloth bowl.
BNF.

A and O, I think it's relevant, since how he performs will always be tied to the FO and their decision not to take him but to go with Henne and sign a vet
Mallet looked good against the bottom half of the jaguars preseason roster with 80 players on the team.... So did the kid we just signed that was once the third string qb in NE....

True, bad examples on my part...I gave names off the top of my head.
I would have been happy for us to draft Stanzi, Yates, even Tyrod Taylor. Just to throw a draftee in the mix.

OK, if it's relevant then I'll post his regular season stats in advance;
Games 1 thru 16 - 0-0 for 0 yrds with 0 TDs and 0 INTs, he looked good holding a clipboard though.

You may be right, but I think it'd have been worth the exercise to find out. Incidentally I didn't realize Devlin was ranked as high as he was pre-draft, so I take back that from a couple posts ago. I guess getting Devlin counts towards my goal of having a rookie prospect in camp after all, although I would have liked to aim somewhat higher.

True about 90% of the time, but worth a shot for the diamond in the rough, I think. We're overdue for one of those.
The answer to our QB deficit could never be to draft a QB, or maybe 2?
There’s absolutely ZERO rationality in that. I mean no organization worth a crap would take a QB like Mallet when they already have a legit starter. How stupid those cheating Pats are. The haha will be on us.
Some seem to think we shouldn’t draft a QB unless he comes with some sort of GUARANTEE that he’ll be (a) fully equipped to whip the Sloth right out of the box or (b) an immediate top tier NFL gunslinger ready to take us to the SB. I mean it’s utterly stupid and ridiculous to develop a kid with legit chops but it’s OK if we invest another season or two in the garbage bin.
I hope I’m proven to be an idiot when it comes to Henne, and if that happens I’ll happily wear an idiot hat. But on the other hand, the hand where the ODDS are seriously in my favor, I won’t waste time telling anyone “I told you so.” I’ll simply hope for another new start with a competent front office and a new-found commitment to solving our ongoing QB “waste management issue.”

Naw, I bet you they hold on to him. He IS Brady's replacement. The fact that that does not happen this year or even the next is not the point. Why should they let him go and then have to cast about for a replacement for a retired or injured (due to old age when injuries happen more often) in a couple of years??????
