This is a moderated phorum for the CIVILIZED discussion of the Miami Dolphins. In this phorum, there are rules and moderators to make sure you abide by the rules. The moderators for this phorum are JC and Colonel.
With all this talk of LA getting an existing team in the next 5 yrs, would you still be a Dolphins fan if Ross moved them out west to be the LA Dolphins? This is purely a hypothetical question, Miami is not one of the rumored teams thinking about it, I'm just curious as to everyone's thoughts. I'm still not sure how I would feel yet if that ever happened.
Probably not. I live in Orlando, so I'd probably start rooting for Tampa or Jacksonville. If the Phins weren't in Miami anymore they wouldn't be the Phins to me. I'm sure most Cleveland fans feel the same about the Ravens, and Houston fans about the Titans, and Baltimore fans about the Colts....etc...etc...etc...

Treasure,
I cant even go their in my brain, I am south florida local, who has gone and watched the Dolphins games from my earliest memory as a child. I couldnt imagine south florida with out the Dolphins and football.... My only guess, I think I might be extremely bitter if that were ever to happen, and probably stop watching pro football maybe forever if not for at a minimum of 4 or 5 years...
it would be tough. I haven't lived in MIA since 1992 so it really shouldn't make much difference, and I couldn't start rooting for another team at this point, but still, it would be weird.
After thinking about it, I would probably be butt hurt and follow the Packers or someone else until they started winning consistently again, then I'd jump back on the bandwagon. Sounds like Jacksonville might be giving it some serious thought though.
if I had to pick another team I'd probably pick the texans or cardinals. but I could never bring myself to do it. defintely not the redskins who are local around here. no ravens either.
they would probably cease to be my favorite team, but i suppose that i would still enjoy seeing them win. Kind of the same way i feel about the cardinals.
"It's been fun to get the reaction of visiting coaches to the color of their locker room. Most don't notice it, but those that do are in trouble. . . . When I talk to an opposing coach before a game and he mentions the pink walls, I know I've got him. I can't recall a coach who has stirred up a fuss about the color and then beat us.” Hayden Fry

Kind of a philosophical question like, "Why are we here?"

Agreed, that is my question every time this sort of thing happens.
Baltimore Colts move, Here come the Baltimore Ravens.
Houston Oilers move, here come the Texans
St. Louis Cardinals move, here come the Rams.
I wonder why NYC never got a team after the Jets and Giants moved out of state
The real question is will Curt still be a Dolphin fan. That will decide whether this board will be here.
Frankly, I would root for the Dolphins even if they moved to Boston. I am allied to the franchise and its history. Real Colts fans from the Johnny U. days still root for Peyton and the Colts.
Both of those teams had owners that didn't deserve the LA market.
Georgia Rosenblom puposely ran the Rams into the ground in order to drive the fans away so she could break her stadium contract and move to a brand new stadium and boatload of ca$h in St Louis.
Before that b!tc# took over, the Rams were the pride of LA/Orange County. Eric Dickerson, playoffs, it was all good!
Al Davis is just one of the worst owners of all time. That clown chose putting his team in Oakland instead of having the LA market all to himself. Probably one of the dumbest business moves of all time.
The LA market is an absolute goldmine for a team that is strong organizationally. In a image driven/sophisticated market like LA, a winning/extremely competative team will fill stadiums and sell merch all day long!!
Don't worry Miami, San Diego will be the odd man out.
Get ready for the LA Chargers. Book it!!

Yikes, good point. Let's just hope the move doesn't happen, m'kay?

That would kick A$$..I mean...if it had to happen that is. Curt lives in the area....I live in the area. There is a surprising number of native Floridians up here. It'd be quite interesting but would probably involve a divisional realignment; Hey maybe the Pats will move to Miami? This is all crazy talk.

Well, the inside baseball here in LA is that an NFL team coming here is more likely given the fact that the plan is to build a football stadium in the Staples center area, where the Lakers play. I don't think that that area would be as fan-safety-friendly as Irwindale, where the talk of a new stadium was some in the late 80's and early 90's but it is certainly a helluva lot better than at the old LA Coliseum where the Rams and the Raiders played which is basically now, gang heaven.

I'd much rather Buffalo move to Toronto over NY. They already have somewhat of a fan base there (speaking of Canada whatever happened to Realist??).
If the Bills moved west that would require divisional realignment which I don't want to happen. Stay in the cold weather Bills, ya bunch of babies!
I agree JC, If Buffalo moves they are going to Canada. They already draw fans from Canada, and it is beneficial for the NFL to break into the Canadian market, moving the Bills to the west coast would hurt the NFL's draw more then it would help it... I would hate to see the Bills move though, they are a historic franchize in my eyes...Those great monday night Buffalo Miami games in the marino/Kelly days were some of my favorite games of all time...

Just watch out for the looting and rioting after the Bills lose! Geez. There won't be much left of Canada after next season!!
What I don't understand was was it anger at losing?
The Laker Fans at Staple Center riot and loot out of happiness that they won. It's just a bunch of thugs out on the street realizing that if they act up there are not enough LAPD to handle them.
But I had a better impression of the people in Canada so taking a bad situation at its best, I'd like to think it was anger.
