Go ahead and believe that if it makes you feel better......I'll still believe in walk ons like Welker and Bess, and Candian nobodies like Wake. That number picked in the draft is just that. I don't reccomend a QB pick that high up , but at least your addressing it somewhat. But ignoring it alltogther? Its almost committing malpractice at their highly paid posistions.

Congratulations, Vic. You named the 2 of the maybe 3 or 4 QB's who have ever done that in the entire history of this league.

So, obviously, it would never happen again? That's what you suggested. It's like saying no one will ever break a record. That's just not true!
Come on bud, thats not at all what I said. I simply stated that it has only happened just a few times in the 75+ years of this league.
My point is, if we are gonna take a *SERIOUS* QB prospect in the draft to be our "franchise QB", it should be a 1st rounder.
It seems like most people are mad we didnt take a QB in the later rounds when the chances are about .0000001% chance they will actually succeed.
It would have been a wasted pick. We need a seem TE that can stretch the field...ala Dallas Clark. We got that. But if we would have drafted a QB, we would have gotten a 3rd string QB.
Well, Joe Montana and Brady have won a few Super Bowls and...
Yea, I agree the PRIME QB PROSPECTS are in R1 and maybe a few slide into R2. But there's a saying in Newark, you're NEVER going to win the rodeo partner if you don’t ride that cow.
And the ODDS of something happening, or inversely, not happening, don’t preclude the possibility of the odds being wrong from time to time.
Other than that, it would be different if these clowns had a history of taking developmental QB’s and developing them. Bu their history is DEVOID in this one somewhat important sector.
Bottom line, I have no issue with taking a QB in R3 – R5 every year (as long as there’s a prospect who meets the positional spec) and using that “investment” as a hedge for developing talent.
But why take a 1st round QB, when the next QB wasnt taken until almost 20 picks later? We drafted our Center.
Again, I will go back to what I originally said...I dont think any QB in this years draft will be better than the top 3 in next years draft. Maybe Newton or Gabbert will be franchise QB's, but all the others will be backups.

Well then.......Fine already. Then you are suggesting that these two Aholes screwed up by not Picking a QB in the first round? I'm Jiggy with that too. I'm willing to give these guys leway. Pick in the first , 2nd 3rd......whatever! But address the GODAMN posistion!! And when you miss, try again , 2-3 season stop gap veterans is not the way to win a Championship. We had the #1 pick in the draft and didn't address it. We had the #2 pick and we picked a RB. We had the #9 pick and again not only didn't we address it , we picked a gad damn punt returner!!!? When will this trend stop? Aron Rodgers went 29th in the 2005 draft. Its Fuing Pathetic.
Just like Phinsfan said, it is a disgrace that our FO hasnt addressed this *HUGE* hole/defeciency on our team. Next year, we better do all we can to get that 1st round QB.
I dont care if it takes a couple 1st round picks to move up to get him. We better get him.

Never know that from your attiyude. I get the vibe from you that you are seconds from creating a ireland fan club. I was getting ready to ask you how his balls tasted.
You obviously are a newbie here. I have said for nearly 9 months that Henne was not our "franchise" QB.
But, I also am not blinded by stupidity...ahem, well nevermind. I realize that unless we could get Gabbert (whom I loved in this draft) or Newton....then we shouldnt draft a QB.
Those are the only 2 guys who I think were actually upgrades over Henne. But I whole heartedly think Luck, Barkley, and Jones will all be Hall of Fame QB's who come out next draft.

RESPONSE: I don't think we are so much upset with the Pouncey pick as the Danny ('He can run the Wildcat') Thomas pick. Afterwards, People are complaining that some of the flyers we picked (who I actually think might be gems) we could have gotten in free agency allowing us to draft the Rick Stanzis or the McElroys.

RESPONSE: We'll have to see and compare it with next year's. My money is on this year's QBs.
But Chyren, who proclaimed that? Not the coaching staff.
Which part, not being upset about Pouncey or the wildcat thing.
The not being upset about Pouncey referred to us who were upset with the draft.
The Wildcat thing is reported in a great deal of bios about Daniel Thomas. Not that Miami will use him that way but that he was used that way on several occasions in college.
So if he was used that way in college, I'll give you 15 guesses as to why OUR STAFF picked him (and the first 14 won't count).
Chyren, I could be wrong. But, I am willing to bet....the wildcat is dead. It left the building when David Lee and Dan Henning left.
We have a new offensive coordinator. Supposedly, a new offensive philosiphy, as well. Guess we will see on that one.
But, again to my point....I have a hard time believing the wildcat will be any type of legitimate game planing from us. Sprinkled in every 4th or 5th game with a play or two? Maybe. But thats all....just maybe.

A&O, I am with you on this, at least in hoping that it's gone. But, my gut tells me that it's not gone at all. Sparano had success with it once. And Daboll used it in Cleveland with Josh Cribbs taking snaps. And they drafted two guys who have experience as wildcat QBs (Thomas and Clay). And from what I've read, Thomas is a much better throwing threat than Ronnie Brown is. I hate to say it, but I think it's still going to be around. And it's still going to be forcing our QB to come off the field for two plays, and come back in on 3rd and 8, and we settle for a FG.
the wild cat is certainly not dead. D Thomas will run it in the Ronnie Brown role. I don't have a problem with the WC, just running it on 3d and long, running it so often, and blowing high drat picks on people who can run it. However we drafted Pat White to run it, I don't think we drafted Thomas to run it. A number of teams would have taken him in the 2d round or early 3d to be their RB, with the WC having nothing to do with it. Pat White, on the other hand, was taken by us to do nothing but the WC, and no one else would have taken him that high for anything
The WC worked very well on occasion last season with Ricky running the ball, especially in the game when Pennington and Henne went down and before Thigpen came in. When used properly in a "surprise" situation it still has merit.
