No clearly some on this board think he is too dull and smart to be a QB in the pro's. I'll take him any day over Spam Newton with a 48 wonderlich you know McElroy can read defenses. In the NFL that's half the battle knowing what play too run with the defense is in a particular look or blitz. Being able to do that seperates the good QB's from the great ones. I would take McElroy to compete with Henne. He is smart a good game manager and a winner, but still too bland for some on this board.
Not sure I there is a 'savior' qb in this draft. I like McElroy but I don't see him challenging Henne right away. I do not think he was better than Croyle and Croyle has not done much in KC.
Intelligence can be broken down into multiple categories. In general, athletic ability is an intelligence. Some people are naturally more gifted athletically than others. Hitting a baseball and eluding defenders while running a touchdown came naturally to me while many of my peers found it difficult.
Music, another intelligence, was hard for me to learn while some can hear something and turn around and play it. I somehow doubt that Hawking, even without ALS, could have intuitively read a defense and sensed when to and not to throw the ball and had the skill to implement it. However, I am sure he could have created a mathematical calculation on when to do it.
A&O Why such a strong conviction with Stanzi? I have long agreed with you about Gabbert, but I am not so sure about Stanzi.

Exactly why your not the aformentiond there Berkeley.
This guy has decent stats, won ALOT of games, not in a spread offense, is smart, and is going in the later rounds.
Whats not to like about him being our QB pick?
Is any of the other QB's in this draft that much better??
I don't see it, yeah some more physical, bigger, or have a better arm, because he is only 6"2 but to me his resume, and words that have spoken is extremely underated.

If Alex Smith would have played on that Alabama team in College, trust me, he would have won a National title.

What's your point? My post was a joke. Guess you didn't get it.
Lets get somthing straight, back in the day education wasnt as glorified and "needed" as much as today's world, so I would assume that Marino if he really gave a damn about it would have gotten a much better score.
JMHO.
Why the hate on Mclroy anyways??? Acting like he sucked, when he had solid stats??? I just find it amazing, that no one is talking about this kid in the draft.
Again he is my sleeper pick, and I will slap some Ireland if he doesnt take him in the later rounds.

I keep hearing Stanzi's name more and more as the draft approaches. His stock is rising.

Good. As he rises, others fall. He won't make it into the 1st round. So, if we pick Mallet at #15, then we can get some good talent later as the other QBs move up.
there's also a lot of tolk of Ponder going in the first, maybe even to us. I don't see it. He wasn't so great in college and injured his throwing shoulder. We of all teams should know that is not a road you want to go down. But I wouldn't be shocked if we take him at 15. Just wait.

I hope not. No more damaged goods in the 1st round! We were already bitten in the a** by Yatil Green and Jared Odrick.
