Rooney Rule question...

First of all, I will start by saying this rule is stupid and total garbage, in this day and age. 50 years ago, yes. Not today's time though.

Anywho...here is my question. Rumors are circulating that Chicago wants Jeff Fisher, if they fire Lovie Smith to hire Fisher, do they still have to interview a minority? Lets be real here....Lovie is their Head Coach, I am pretty sure minorities are not getting discriminated there.

How does that work?

yes they'd need to interveiw a minority. smith is already the coach, he's not interviewing for an opening when there isn't one. I doubt they'd fire him, then interview him.

Fire Smith after taking them to a Superbowl and an NFC Championship game? That would be beyond stupid.

This pathetic rule was invented by a fossil. At least his team honors it to the fullest. As for the other 31 teams it's like: "Well thank you for coming, but we have better things to do. Thanks again and best of hope in your future somewhere else". Funny thing they were addressing this piece of feces subject a couple of weeks ago on ESPN lo and behold with Spike Lee and a confessed and convicted steroid user.

If I see Spike Lee on TV, I immediately turn the channel.

i think it could just as well be abolished its really more or less a nuisance at this point, if a team has a minority coach that they like they will interview him, if all the coaches they would like to hire are the same race, well then so be it, you shouldn't be forced to interview some teams minority TE coach for your HC job just because its some how more "fair"

"It's been fun to get the reaction of visiting coaches to the color of their locker room. Most don't notice it, but those that do are in trouble. . . . When I talk to an opposing coach before a game and he mentions the pink walls, I know I've got him. I can't recall a coach who has stirred up a fuss about the color and then beat us.” Hayden Fry

Why would Chicago want Fisher when Smith has done just as much? Fisher imho is a bit overrated. TN was not a regular in the AFC champonship game during his tenure. As far as the Rooney rule it probably will be around for another 3-5 years. Good to see guys like Smith, Dungy etc get chances instead of Bozos like Rich Kotite.

Tennessee wasnt a regular because they have the greatest regular season QB of all time in their division.

BTW, Peyton is below-average in the playoffs.
