#### Agree on Pouncey, I think the last name has some people fooled. Not the player his brother is and I will be surprised if he is a top 20 pick as well. ###

I wouldnt totally underestimate Mike Pouncey though. He is bigger then his brother and without a doubt the best guard to come out of the draft. His size is impressive. I would love to have him on our team as projected guard back up center, and pick him 33 or so... He could be a dominant guard like Logan Mankins in the future.
A&O,
I agree Crowder health status and inconsistent playing time this year puts him at risk, his reasonable contract probably keeps him on the team, yet I am all for a young draftee beating him out if he can...
The only reason why Markuise is a better Center than his brother, at the moment, is because Markuise has been playing Center for 4 years now.
Mike Pouncey started off his college career as a DT, then switched to O-line, but since his brother (Markuise) was already a Center, he decided on Guard.
It could have easily been the opposite with Mike playing Center for 4 years and Markuise the Guard.
Both guys have *IDENTICAL* (no pun intended) skills sets...physically and mentally.
10 years from now, Mike Pouncey and Markuise Pouncey will both be the two best Centers in the NFL, and both will be future Hall-of-famers.
A&O,
We have had this debate before, do we really have to keep going over it.just my attempt at bad humor....I promise you I have watched more film of both of them then probably anyone on this site. Probaby just about every college snap for both guys. Mike is not his brother. Most draft experts project that he is the best guard in the draft and do not even list him as a center..... Mike most likely will not play center next year unless for emergency or back up reasoning. He is huge and a beast but, in the NFL a bad snap is unacceptable, especially from a 1st rd draft pick. Mike will not be a first rd draft pick as a projected starting center. He is 6'5 and over 320 and fast and agile as any big man.. People love him for all of that, but not his snapping. His blocking, feet, strength and size are what people are gonna draft IMO..
Besides the fact that we bombed in the last deal when we traded for a Philadelphia QB, what would be so bad about getting Kevin Kolb? I dont know much about him but his stats are encouraging and he is young.
Scongili, Kolb's stats are good..but his play is TERRIBLE!!! He cant get the ball down the field. In fact He doesnt even look downfield if the D is in 2 deep zone. The Reason his stats are good is because the Eagles have a decent offensive system with incredible recievers that get humongous YAC's.
Our recievers are not on PAR with the Eagles, our guys are slow but big...Kolb would be reduced to the dink and dunk style that wont win anything in today's NFL.
Toko - his accuracy seemed reasonable. I dont have a good feeling either unless he was cheap. Who knows what Philly would ask for him. I still curse Wanny and Speilman for the AJ Feeley disaster.
I am so sick of this conversation. I wish we could find a GOOD QB for the next decade. The closest we have had since Marino was Fiddler. How messed up is that?

Unfortunately, it was only for one year. Of course, people forget Fiedler hurt HIS shoulder too...and that pretty much ended HIS career as well.
We need to let go of the past. Stop worrying about who we've had in the past and find the NEXT guy that will do it for us. We're NOT going to find the next Marino. Let's give up on that. Our future QB isn't on our roster right now, but that doesn't mean we'll never find him. How long did it take New Orleans to find Drew Brees?

The only reason you feel that way is because Fiedler replaced Marino. He had big shoes to fill. Pre-injury, Fiedler was a very good QB. He got us into the playoffs more than once and even won a game. That's more than ANY QB we've had since can claim. I'd take the pre-injury Fiedler on this team RIGHT NOW over any of the QBs we currently have!

Hey. Fiedler was the last Phin QB to win a playoff game. Even Pennington can't claim that. Something has to be said for that. He wasn't a superstar, but he knew his limitations. He could make plays with his arm and his feet. He wasn't great at comebacks, but he didn't blow games with costly Ints either. Adequate is Chad Henne. Fiedler was better than that.
Yeah, but I remember one moment. I can't recall the circumstances but there were just a few seconds to go and I remember him at the opposition 3 yard line getting up off the ground rallying the troops and I thought, "Now he's our quarterback."
He wasn't the best. You can't compare him to Marino or even some of the top quarterbacks of today but I think he ranks as the best among the quarterbacks between Marino and the quarterbacks on this team today. (Incidentally, I think the QBs on this team today are the best we have had since Marino.)
Lets not forget....we dominated the Colts back then. Zach Thomas had Peyton Manning figured out, Peyton said on numerous occasions that Zach was the best defensive player he ever played against, and Zach would call out Peyton's audibles.
We had their number....had nothing to do with Fiedler.
Fiedler was the worst deep ball passer I have ever seen....I wonder what his completion percentage was on passes over 25 yards.
I can *CLEARLY* remember him throwing the ball waaaay out of bounds when he had recievers wide open deep.

Worse than Pennington? Actually, how many QBs have we had since Marino, strong arm or not, that could throw an accurate deep ball?

Gus Frerotte. It was his only skill, but he did throw a nice deep ball.
The problem with Penny was that he couldnt even get the ball past 25 yards. He has a noodle attached to his shoulder.
The problem with Fiedler on the roof, was totally different. He had the arm strength, but he also had the worst accuracy to go along with it. I can clearly remember him throwing the ball 15 yards out of bounds, sometimes almost going into the bleechers.
