This guy never played OR coached QB. Obviously our staff doesn't put a lot of value in QB coaches. The only other thing I can think of is we're planning on retaining Pennington as a QB player/assistant coach.
Regardless, this is another DUMB move in a whole list of DUMB moves we've made this off season. I'm starting to think Ross wants us to lose so he can move the team somewhere else. Remember the movie "Major League"?
He can give QB's the perspective of the wr's on certain rout's, and plays and this could really help the QB's see the field from the wr's view, and could make for a very interesting thing.
I don't have a problem with it. It is definitely a promotion. He does have head coach and offensive coordination experience.
As a QB coach he has to know the mechanics of the QB position and has to be able to communicate well. He must be a stickler for detail and demand precision.
It is a little outside of the box...but, certainly has potential to produce different results then last season.

Different, yes. Better? I'm not holding my breath.
I'll bet Dough-ball (whoever coined that phrase, I love it!) has total reign over QB's and Dorell is just there to help implement his plan, what do you guys think if Ike Hilliard as WR coach?
He is probably a friend of someone's. Need a job? Yeah, lets see what we have open....here QB coach. Never played QB? Doesn't matter, just take the job. Tell my uncle I say hello.

You do realize that he was our current WR coach right?
its not uncommon a good nfl coach can coach any position on his side of the ball. Dorrel has a reputation as a good coach. The Patriots current qb coach played LB in college.
I will say this...much of our problems in the passing game has been ball placement. If this former WR coach (slash College head coach slash College offensive coordinator) can get our QB's to hit the Receivers in stride w/ better accuracy we could have some big plays.
Timing and accuracy w/ the receivers is critical.
The other interlocked problems are related to lack of team speed, dynamic play calling, and blocking to get it done.
So lets go get the speed wr, and TE. First though lets get our center straight, then finish our O-line to give max time for the wr's to seperate, and QB to make all the reads, also our rb's to have a hole which won't collapse in 1 second.

I get the argument, but what if a QB comes in with bad throwing mechanics? What if they need help with footwork? How is this guy supposed to help them with that? I thought that was what QB coaches did.
I had high hopes going into last years offseason. Even though we didn't finish well, it seemed like we were heading in the right direction.
Fast forward one year....it just seems like everything we do is contrary to building an elite organization.
It started with dismantling last years O-Line before the first game of the year. Oh, Ok. Sparano's got a handle on this thing. He's knows something we don't know. The results? Painfully obvious.
Next, rumours fly that we have a shot at hiring an elite HC (Cowher, Harbaugh). Nope, we must keep the regime in place that's made so many wonderful decisions. So, instead of firing Sparano (which is what everone, including Sparano, thought would happen after the last game), let's give him an EXTENSION!
Then the lowly Browns (one of two teams with a LESS potent offense than us over the past two years) fire Daboll and we scoop him up as our OC before any other team can hire him...cause he such a hot commodity, you know.
And now we hire a QB with no QB coaching experience, all the while saying that we aren't giving up on Henne!?!?
This fanbase is brimming with malcontent and if something doesn't happen (make the playoffs), well...I'll just....wait another year!!!
someone please explain why hiring the WR coach from last year's offensive staff to be the QB coach (he's never done it before) is a good move to coach up Henne or anyone else we bring in? anyone? not being sarcastic just want to know what I am missing....
