I can't figure out what the hell it is. And that disturbs me. I don't think anyone seriously thinks that Stanford will be in any position to win a National Championship next year, so it can't be he's coming back for that. Hey, if its not USC or UCLA one year, then its going to be one of them the next year, or Arizona or one of the Oregon schools or whatever powerhouse is coming into the Pac-10.
If he is figuring, "Education must always be a top priority," then he's dumb as a wooden post because that only applies if you are not offered millions when, at the same time, you can always go back and get your education after your pro playing days.
If he knows he's not good enough now, despite all the experts saying he'll be picked number 1, then what does he know and how would it affect us?
And it's not just passing on the money. Any player runs the real risk of injury.
What would Bo Jackson have been had he not been injured? I think the greatest running back of ALL TIME!
So either he's extremely dumb or there's something that we are not seeing and that alone frightens me.

I think it is because he talked to Peyton Manning and Tim Tebow (which he actually did) and they both *HIGHLY ENCOURAGED* him to return for his senior season.
They told him the vital leadership skills are learned in your senior season.
mo money mo problems, maybe he actually believes that and wants to live his free style college life another year. Who really knows is Mr Luck himself and if he is fine w/ it then why question him?
Those who want to tank next season to grab Luck better think again. Luck might decide to remain in school for some post graduate work rather than play for a scrub 1-15 team.

I think Luck plans to play like crap next season so he can drop in draft status and get drafted by a playoff team.
And if you believe that I have a bridge in Orlando to sell you.

It happens all the time. QBs are projected in the top 5, they opt to stay in school and proceed to either get injured or play poorly, then they drop. If Marino would have come out his Junior year he probably would have been a top 5 pick!
Moreover, some shit_y teams can be found at the bottom on the first round having traded their higher draft pick for some purpose. So if a QB were to play that game, he might get drafted by a shi_ty team anyway.
So I'm still looking for an answer. The wait for the next year's draft to go to a better team is not only dumb, it is not even logical.

My answer was a joke, btw. He wouldn't do any of that on purpose. I was just responding to the comments related to not wanting to play for the team that drafted him. Historically, if a draft pick is slated as #1, they can almost pick-and-choose who they want to play for. John Elway and Eli Manning didn't want to play for the teams slated to draft them, and they both got what they wanted (and the decision in no way hurt their career). There's no reason why Luck couldn't do that same if that's his reasoning for going back to school.
I agree Chyren. High mindedness is all fine and well but theres nowhere for Luck to go but down in his draft capital.
If as someone said he TRULY believes it would make him a better NFL QB in the long run great. But after that I can think of no good reason for his decision. Kind of gives me pause about him.
Could be another Matt Lineart. If he is high-minded, I applaud his ethics but question his wisdom.
I'm pleading for someone to give me the name of that great college running back from the late 90's that was from a poor family and had a sure-fire pro career ahead of him and got injured in a post season bowl game and never was even drafted. And that was just a post season bowl game and not a whole season.
He didn't want to get drafted by the cheap azz Carolina Panthers. One of the stingiest owners in the league who lives in a bargain basement. Luck would've been the only player on that team actually worth something besides aging receiver Steve Smith.
Here is what sets Peyton Manning apart from all the rest of the QB's...
He is not the biggest, fastest, most mobile, nor does he have the strongest arm, or quickest release. But he is fairly decent at all this mentioned.
But here is where he is set apart from the rest.....he is one of the smartest QB's ever. He knows the game. Also, he has arguably the best leadership skills of any QB in the game.
So, with his brain and leadership skills, he combines all those other tools to make him great.
And that is what Luck is....almost a carbon copy. He is a football genius, raised in the QB game his entire life (Oliver Luck) and now he will go back get an extra (and most valuable year of leadership) and he will combine all his tools to make him the next Peyton Manning.
