Time/ patience vs. panic button

Every year around playoff time people seem to start looking for the panic button and begin losing sight of the long run.

Positives:
-We did not start out 0-3 or 0-4 like the last few seasons.

-We are finally starting to see alittle bit of depth that takes time to replace from all the coaching changes and personell moves. The Oline did decent despite all the reshuffling from injuries.

-Sparano got another full year under his belt as head coach and Henne got another full year as the starting QB.(Both are still new)

-Nolan & the defense looked strong.

-We played well against some tough teams this year Packers,Jets, and Steelers showing we can compete with playoff caliber teams. We also faced a pretty tough schedule.

-Dan Carpenter another great season.

Negatives:
-Some key injuries(always a factor) to Odrick,Proctor,Carey, Long,Garner, Hartline,Henne,Dansby and Edds and Sheets before the season.

-A weird total special teams collapse against the first New England game and a weird ending to the Steelers game are two pivitol games that I feel took the wind out of our sails.

Improvements for next year: I think we can fix things with some subtle changes such as two fresh young game changing running backs and involving our tight ends more and possibly drafting another one. I think this would help Henne and the offense alot. I've noticed Dickson ,Heap, and Rice improving Flacco/ Gronkowski, Hernandez, and Woodcock improving Brady/ Finley,Quarless, and Grant(before injured) improving Rodgers/ Clark,Tamme,Rhodes,Brown, Addai,James improving Manning/Turner,Gonzalez, improving Ryan/Moeaki,Charles,improving Cassel/Dressen,Foster, improving Schaub/Bush,Mcfadden,and Miller, helping Campbell etc.. Any Qb is better with strong running backs and more involved tight ends. Ronnie lacks vision, Ricky is old, and Fasano is good but should be involved more and we still need another stud tight end.

Summary:Another solid draft revamping our running game and tight ends, our injured healing, some patience, and I think we will continue to get better. I don't feel we are as far off as many think. I don't see the benefit to scrap everything at this particular point.

I would just like to see Henne with a few more pieces on offense before Imake my final judgement because I have seen it improve other Qbs.

What Qb's are on your wishlist for his replacement?

My list is similar to PHinsfan:

1- QB
2- Interior O-line help
3- RB (need to replace BOTH Ricky and Ronnie)
4- speed on offense and special teams (TE, WR, KR/PR)
5- Replacement for Crowder

I don't think we really have pressing needs on defense except, MAYBE, an ILB. I also don't think we necessarily need speed at RB. We're going to be losing 2 good power backs (Ronnie/Ricky). If Sheets can come back, the combo of him and Cobbs should take care of our speed at that position, but we need someone that can run inside consistently, and I don't think Hilliard is the guy.

QB QB and then

another QB followed by

C C C and then another (just for good

fun) QB.

Hanna IS a proven commodity.

The debate ends.

He sucks squirrel nuts.

Mr. Peanut would be a better QB. Even Gumby. Or

Captain Kangaroo. Any

thing but another dose of Henna.

Needs:

1. QB
2. Offensive Lineman....starting Center, guards, and depth.
3. Free Safety
4. MLB
5. Speed WR
6. Tight End
7. Nose Tackle
8. Return Man...(could argue this should be much higher maybe #3)
9. Running back

Possibly correct. I hope not but it's not looking like we have a bright owner or front office, and it all starts there. Ugh

God another Henne lover.

Henne is too stupid, and doesnt have the balls to win.

That is what he has shown me. I think he threw more balls to the defensive lineman this year, than to his TE'S, and Im not exaggerating!

He is to sloth like in the pockett, and yeah adding a awsome wr, and rb and o-line will help, but he is nothing more than AT BEST, a solid fill in backup.

Just dosn't have the downfield accuracy, and the moxy to stand in the pockett, going through the reads, then after not staring at your number one target throw the ball OVER the D-line to a open, or not open wr.

Funniest thing you've said on this board. Fact is you've been banned because you're a homophobic dolt that has Brady's ball's on his forehead. I know you're mad that your boyfriend lost to the Jests, hell I'd be mad if my team lost to that bunch of misfits, but lets not go calling people jokes until we get you into a psychiatrist's office to work on your identity issues. thumbs down

I agree but with a slightly different order and an addition or two. Mine is,

1- Speed on offense (WR, RB, TE)
2- Interior O-Line help
3- QB...but for competition with Henne and Thigpen instead of an immediate replacement. If a good one is available in the first round then we should take him, if not then wait until the third round and take a WR, RB, TE in the first.
4- Another pass rusher.
5- A replacement for Crowder that actually makes plays.
