Matt Haselbeck took the hawks to the superbowl where they got jacked by the refs in Bettis' retirement party. Tore up the defending champs yesterday which some great touch passes

I still wouldn't consider Matt Hasselbeck a household name. Tom Brady? YES. Peyton Manning? YES. Ben Rothlisberger? YES. Michael Vick? YES. Drew Brees? YES. Sanchez, Cassell, Rodgers, Flacco, Hasselbeck? Not quite. The young guys have a chance of SOMEDAY being a "household" name. Hasselbeck probably will never be.
Sanchez has a strong tendency to get rattled and play like a girl. Of course Herbal Henna has the same issue. But let’s not forget we won the battle of the Suck QB’s in the Meadowlands. Yea for us!
Yea, Sanchez has some playoff "wins" but no one is scared of his game in the playoffs. But the kid has played decent… For sure he's beyond Henna, but that's no endorsement.
Most likely Billy Goat will make Sanchez play the little girl role this Sunday. It could be ugly with a lot of smacked ass…

He s further along, until he meets the Pats next. Smackdown city

Yep, but a 'household name' QB can get you to super bowls.
Brady
Rothlesberger
Warner
Manning
Aikman
Farve
Kelly
Young
Montana

In my mind, Sanchez is just a Henna who can run a little.

Ever think that maybe these guys are household names BECAUSE they took their team to Superbowls?

?????? Yes.
I guess your trying to say they were all just Hennes on great teams....
Disagree. What have the 49ers done since Montana and Young left? What Have the Bills done since Kelly left, the Packers since Farve? The 'Boys since Aikman? The Rams (or Cardnials) since Warner (and what had the Cardinals ever done BEFORE Warner?!?!). A great QB can make an average team good and a good team a contender. There is no other single position that can have that kind of impact. Period.

When you're as dominant as they were for as long as they were, there will be repercussions. Low draft picks, aging players, and the departure of Walsh all contributed to bring that franchise back to earth...and then some. Notice they DID change their QB during that time and managed to stay dominant. Once Montana left, their winning had a lot more to do with their system and overall talent than with Steve Young. Yet he's now a "household name".
> What Have the Bills done since
> Kelly left,
See above. They played in 4 straight Superbowls. Then their coach and best players got old and left. It wasn't only the departure of Kelly that brought them down.
> the Packers since Farve?
some people are favoring them to win the Superbowl this year. SERIOUSLY!
> The 'Boys

Are you REALLY pulling Aikman into this argument. If ANY recent QB doesn't deserve to be in the HoF, it's Aikman. He was a complete product of his team.

Yes, I'll give you that. Warner made that team successful.

No, actually my argument is that the whole "household name" QB thing is a farce. Guys BECOME household names when they succeed. Saying we don't have a QB that has won a Superbowl before is, like...uhh...duh!!! MOST teams don't have former-Superbowl-winning QBs. If Henne starts to win games, he will BECOME a household name.
Do you consider Hasselbeck, Sanchez, Cassell, Rodgers, Flacco, Cutler or Ryan to be household names? The only other name to throw in is Vick, but he's a household name for a completely different (and not-so-good) reason.
On the other hand, do you consider the only QBs that can win a Superbowl to be Brady, Rothlisberger, Brees or Manning (who is out of the playoffs now anyway) because they've already won at least one?
OK Monty, Henne will be a hall of famer shortly, QB isn't important we can win with any old chucker, and Dan Marino is only a household name because he won a Superbowl...whoops...there went that argument.
My point is, a good QB <> Superbowl championship, but one does = a competitive, contending, 'relevant' team. We don't have the former and we are not going to be the latter till we get one.
A good QB is the 'difference' this thread is talking about.

A&O, I would agree the team is much further along than Miami but not so much Sanchez over Henne.
1. Sanchez has enough around him to make up for his bonehead mistakes.
2. If Sanchez was a dolphin and was not allowed to throw it up he'd be a scared puppy just like Henne, with a worse arm.
3. I wish for a good OC, and for SSparano to pick and support a new creative guy and let him do his job, like he did on the defensive side with Nolan.
This team is less exciting than watching grass grow and needs a creativity infusion big time. Come on diamond in the rough, marino number two and someone with the stones to coach the offense

Well I certainly agree with the top three.
As far as grass growing, I was in Florida last week. Spent much time sitting on my back patio with a glass of wine watching the grass grow. Not to bad most of the time.
KB, on those great quarterbacks on those great teams that have not done much since the quarterbacks left, you also have to remember that all aspects of those teams were great, not just the QB. You mentioned Montana and Young on the 49ers. When Joe left, he left the same team for Steve to pick up and go forward with.
Let's suppose Henne leaves tomorrow, what kind of team will he leave his successor. Do you REALLY THINK that all you have to do for us to have a GREAT team is to replace Henne with a GREAT quarterback? You're wrong and you're setting yourself up for one tremendous disappointment.
