Yes. This is a bad situation for him and he'd be better off starting fresh somewhere else. 9

No. He won't get offered an NFL HC job somewhere else. Why give that up now? 6

The way I see it, the best resolution for everyone is for Sparano to bow out and resign. He can go on to UConn or Michigan and start new, and we can get rid of the embarrassment and try to start fresh as well. At this point Tony has lost the support and respect of the front office as well as a number of his players. This is a BAD BAD situation for him. If it was me, I'd leave.

Why would he flush a year's salary down the toilet like that, unless he had a higher paying suitor in hand. Which he does not.

However if he goes to UCONN dolfan1 will be ecstatic! smiling bouncing smiley

Personally, I'd give up money if it meant being miserable in my job. But, that's just me.

I'd give up "money", but not THAT kind of money, unless once again a comparable job were available. If UCONN or any place else is offering the same money, then yeah. But if my next prospective job is 1/10th of current salary, in a location that has higher cost of living, I'd swallow my pride on my way to the bank. I'm not going to sacrifice my livelihood, my kid's college tuition and my own financial plans because my feelings got hurt.

Me too. The guy will find a job.

Uconn would hire him for 1.5 - 2.5 mill a year.

Not too shabby.

I've said resign for a while. But $$$ trumps self-pride obviously.

Sparano might not ever get another chance to coach in the NFL.

Why would he quit? He has a chance to try to prove he's a good coach.

Reality = Sparano is far better suited for college.

The rah-rah anal approach works better with immature minds.

The shorter season matches up with him as well.

Exactly....I'm sure he's thinking 'if you don't want me, then fire me and pay me'.

Then he can go coach college and add that salary to his pay this year.

Tony Sparano should resign. What was done, in the manner it was done, was a betrayal, disrespectful and a vote of no confidence by the owner. No one would blame Sparano for resigning.

This is a sorry state of affairs.

Yup.

An even better blessing for him would have been to get canned now, line up a college job quickly, then draw two paychecks over the next year.

But this way he does have the entire year to set up his next job.

Sparano will NEVER be a HC in the NFL after this gig ends.

He's a position coach in the NFL.

As a HC his "game" is right for college - but not at a major program.

OK. You tell me what makes Sparano MORE THAN a position coach?

Do you really believe he’s a football luminary on EITHER side of the ball?

How about his game day coaching???

His clock management???

His inability to adapt and adjust???

Sticking with poor coaches on the staff???

Do you think he’s a GREAT motivator (see the NE game and 1-7 at home).

Losing to Buffalo and Detroit AT HOME???

How’s the OL look? His supposed area of “strength?”

How about ST??? WTF…

How about the players coming OUT against him???

The stupid rah-rah crap…

The constant regurgitation of stupid stats etc. verses devising superior game plans

The endless shuffling of players and positions

Keep this guy, he’s great. Then he’s gone next week (see Jason Allen etc.)

And the list goes on and on….

You’ve GOT TO BE KIDDING. Sparano is NOT a high caliber NFL HC – period.

Oh so you’re telling me he’s saving all his really good stuff for when he has a franchise QB?

C’mon. The dude is simply in WAY over his head. And with Parcells gone, it’s obvious…

I’ll take this one step further. If Sparano was on an obvious upward arc I’d be willing to let it ride and play along. But the dude is a classic example of the Peter Principal.

He landed the job because he was a Parcells clone. That’s it.

He’s a POSITION COACH reformatted into a HC.

You think he'd get ANY traction in the NFL as a HC now???

ZERO chance.

Best option for him is to get the mossiong pieces and win!

If he does that everyone will know it wasn't him. If he doesn't he was ultimately responsible and needs to shoulder some or maybe more of the blame.

Ross needed to try to land a big fish, and Tony needs to show that he is one! IMHO
