My observations: When a team doesn't gel, fans first start looking at players who aren't cutting it. Then the next step is criticism of the FO for not hiring the right FAs or drafting better college prospects. Then when things continue to go south, it's bad coaching, and finally stupid ownership. Guess what, it's all of these. It's a prevalent situation with most average and below average teams
I remember when Parcells was hired and lots of folks on this board were thrilled with that news. Wayne, dear old Wayne, looking to get the hell out after going 1-15 hires Parcells to turn things around. Suddenly, the team goes from bust to division champ. Enough of a change to improve the stability of the franchise so Wayne can market the franchise and does so with Ross. Parcells familiar with this arrangement, sees a change in ownership and slowly cuts his ties with the team. Little fanfare about his departure.
Tony Sparano was given a golden opportunity to turn the team into a class act. He failed because of a variety of circumstances, some his fault, some the fault of the players, and some the fault of management/ownership. Again a situation not atypical in the NFL.
This thing with Parcells was a business deal that partially succeeded --at least for Wayne. Now Ross, is left with a team of decent players, Long, Bess, Carpenter, Fields, Misi, Bell, Smith, Marshall, Langford, Wake and Danbsy, who are collectively underachieving.
Change is on the horizon; and along with it some good some not so good. Let's hope for the best.
