He's certainly a tallented player but, to give up multiple draft picks for him is just plain wrong. He obviously can't carry a team on his shoulders which is what he would have to do here if we mortgage the future to get him. We have way too many needs on offense to be giving away draft picks and/or proven vets to get one player.
Mallet reminds me of ben rosselinsburger from pittsburgh or however you spell it...
Big body and good arm.....did anybody notice the fire this kid had?...I saw a little bit of the game......On one pass the receiver was clearly held ...middle of the field...the receiver fell down...the defender held him clearly....then
The showed mallets face and he was clearly going to the refs....>QUOTE......Thats BS......
Right before that on a pass play the defender threw him to the ground and kind of held him...mallet got up and right before he got up he threw a jab at the defender....
Questions.....
Is that fire marino like qualities?
Or is this guy gonna be all pissed off like ryan leaf was?
Has Good arm
Big body so can absorb some hits in the nfl.
Is he mobile? Didnt see the entire game. I dont think he is too mobile.
His deep throws were off. In the time i saw him.

PS. If we are able to move up and get him....Then draft at least a center and another guard with the next two picks.
Give up some picks from next year and adquire another sencond and another third. Do something. Make a dam move for a change.
After watching Luck and Mallett I would take Mallett hands down (either is unlikely but I'm just sayin'). His passes looked crisper and like they had more velocity. And he looked VERY accurate compared to Luck, at least vs college DB's.
It impresses me that:
1.) The Buckeyes were bringing the pressure all night and he still made plays.
2.) The Ark. receivers looked less than all-world but he still got them the ball.
3.) The Ark. defense was less than impressive but the passing offense kept them in the game.
IMO if Luck had been out of the Stanford game Stanford still wins or at least it's a good game. If Mallett is out of last nights game THE Ohio State University wins by BLOW OUT. Thats why many of us on this board want a top tier QB, good QB play can shoulder the load when it needs to and keep a team competitive when it otherwise wouldn't be.

Well, Stanford rushed for 250 YD's, forced 8 punts and sacked a very elusive QB what...114 times! Hard to say they wouldn't have been competitive with even a Chad Henne 75 yard passing performance.
Admittedly, I haven't seen Luck much except in highlights but to me he looked like a bigger Chad Pennington - dink and dunk passing game and a good scrambler. Not that any of that is a bad thing but I can't see him throwing a lot of outs and flys in an NFL situation. They kept comparing him to Elway but I certainly didn't see that kind of arm.

Someone should go back and see what the "experts" were saying about Eli Manning, Phillip Rivers, and Ben Rothlisberger. Based on their play and overall success, I have to rank them (NOW) like this:
1. Big Ben
2. Rivers
3, Eli
At the time Eli was SUPPOSED to be the second-coming of Peyton. It hasn't turned out that way, even though he DID get a Superbowl (Big Ben has 2).
So, it's entirely possible that Mallet or Gabbert (or someone else) will be more successful than Luck.
He did ok, not enough to trade the bank. Worthy of a late round first, or a second round pick sure, but to trade down for this guy? No...
If we had multiple picks like NE, then yeah, but with what little bs we have heck noooooo.
The good news is that if 5 teams or 6 get a qb in the first round man will be some nice talent still left on the board in the later part of round one, and round two.
So trade down looking really good, and could still produce a top tier RT, or G.

All the "experts" ARE saying the same thing. Not saying I wouldn't take him, I'm all for a 1st rd QB, just saying based on those two bowl games, Mallett looked like a better passer.
Do YOU think Luck looked like Elway throwing the ball?
