But like it has been said numerous times. We don't have anything to get a good QB.

exactly.......we also have 2012 2013 drafts all full of picks....

I mean it has nt worked squat the way weve been doing it until now. You know been conservative and not making any moves at all...All weve been doing is trading down.

Its time to grow some balls.

Maybe we are to hire George W Bush as the general manager of the phins.

From everything Darlington said, we are going after a QB, Who and how is anybody's guess. But the 2 plans have to meet in the one is finding a QB for the future and the other is making a big splash that helps buy tickets. I think, everything from trading all the way up with Carolina to going after Mike Vick are all in play IMO.
THis is the first time I am positive we will have a new Qb on the Roster next year competing for the starting job and that is the numner 1 concern towars what the Owner and coaches appear to want.

I'll pretense my post by saying I don't think anyone on our roster as of the end of this season is the solution to the QB1 position at all. I think Henne is a solid backup, and that with proper implementation, Twiggy could be effective in a spread offense version of the Wildcat.

Having said that, I get scared reading this. If by some miracle of fortune and favor Sparano does save his own hide and goes forward with a plan to get a new QB on the roster, I am very wary of him pulling some kind of Herschel Walker style trade where he gives up the farm for one player just in an effort to save his own job. I want us to get a nice, blue chip, elite QB in the draft. I just don't think the cards are there to make it happen this year without giving up our 1st from next year.

According to what people are saying, Mallett is looking good in his bowl game, so maybe he'll be around when we pick 15th? That also brings up a question. When they talk about bringing in another QB, I'd assume their talking about another QB to PLAY, not to sit behind Henne till he's "ready". Can any QB in the draft this year do that besides Luck? Because I don't see us getting Luck without mortgaging the farm...

I think you conveniently skipped my first paragraph. Or you've just been blinded by your seemingly infallible love for Twiggy.

Listen Mia1, I get that you like Thigpen's chops. He's a decent QB, not without his pluses. Is he a QB that's going to give me 4k yards, 20 TD's and under 10 ints each year? I seriously doubt it, and at this point that's what this team needs to be a serious contender for the SB. And if you're not shooting for the SB, what's the point.

There is now way guys that we get one of the top young guns in the draft zero zero zero chance. If you read my previous posts i said it before that sparano and ireland would not get canned. I still stick by that. Ross is a freaking fluff bag and cant even can a coach let alone figure out he has to do everything he can to trade up. It just wont happen. we will get someone elses crap maybe we get lucky who knows and they play well for us. This team is just stuck with the mentality of trying to find a diamond for cheap and it doesnt work. the only way it can happen is if sparano gets canned. Im telling you now that the qb will be either vince young, kolb or mcslab and all of them suck ass. but all better than henne so there it is.

I believe these are the three options and Miami will do one of them.

1) We will trade away future drafts picks and this year 1st and third in attempt to take Caronlina's spot and take Andrew Luck. Alot of analysis says Caronlina should and if they can find a partner will trade that pick

2) We will trade up and go after Cam Newton

3) We will attempt a fullcourt press and go after Mike Vick. I am not convinced Mike Vick wants to stay in Philly

I dont think we go after Vince Young, or Mcnabb or Kolb, and the main reason is it will do nothing to help ticket sales and the business side of the operation, Sparano and Ireland's plan had to include 2 things IMO, in order for Ross to go with them, 1) Going after a QB, and 2) Making a big splash to help the business side of the Dolphins. Young Kolb and Mcnabb would do nothing for the business side. So Ross wouldnt buy into that plan IMO.

Like i said I believe the big splash, is either a Heisman winner, the potential NFL MVP or the number 1 draft pick. IF Pat Riley pulled off what he did last season for the Heat, that is what Ross wants this offseason for his Dolphins. I would not underestimate the possibilities this offseason. The only factor that is unknown is whether a CBA is going to be done before the draft, so player trades could be used to move up.

crowder i think this is all wishful thinking. the only one i even see with a 1percent chance of happening would be taking cam newton. there is no way this flipping owner who cant even decide on a coach is going to give his draft pics away to move to number 1. Mike vick might not want to stay in philly but he has no choice at all. I live in NJ and follow them and he is gonna get franchised, kolb sucks he is a nobody and if reid let vick go, the philly fans would just go nuts and he wont do that. trust me, i would love it if they got vick but aint happening. The cba is a bunch of crap its just a silly excuse to do nothing. it really makes no difference wether its there or not. its very simple you need a coach and a qb period, and if u dont pull the plug because your using the cba as a scapegoat then your not freakin serious about getting the job done. so i dont buy that crap at all. Its the same damn thing year after year trying to find the diamond in the rough, always taking someone elses crap and hoping it turns to gold. I have been a fan for 42 yrs and have never ever seen something as pathetic and mismanaged and misguided in my life as this regime and owner. its just silly.

Basically we are screwed for another few years. No question about it. While the Patriots load up, we sit on the sideline watching and drooling at their success.

I agree there is a good chance, Vick is franchised but Philly is going to have theire hands full in the offseason between Kolb, Deasean and Vick alone. (Good Point about the franchise tag) Maybe we trade with Philly for him.
The CBA comment merely has to do with the fact you can not trade players until a CBA is signed. That is all. Meaning we cant add a player to a possible trade up to get Luck or Newton . We would have to do it with all, draft picks. If there is a CBA it makes it easier for us to trade up. That is all. I think we trade up to 1, 4 or 6 if Vick isnt landed.
Ross is concerned about ticket sales and fan support. If he isnt making a splash with a new head coach, it has to be with a QB. We are in south Florida, the Dolphins are losing a large portion of disposable income or financial support to the Heat's greatest show on Earth. I can tell you that this is the first time in history, Miami is fighting to keep this place a football town. Ross isnt only competing with the AFC, he is competing with Riley, Lebron, Wade, and Bosh.... They are gonna go for it this offseason IMO.

No offense Dolfan1, but how did this comments add anything to what we are discussing? Other then to get people off topic and pissed? Do you want to actuall comment on the topic or just be a negative instigator?

I apologize, guess I'm just stating the obvious. We need a good overhaul on the offense which will take longer than I'd like to see, by then our defense will suffer, see the vicious circle?

How about, more specificly about the monday meeting?
Do you think Ross, keeps Sparano and Ireland, and which QB do you think we go after or was part of the plan that Ross wanted to hear?

My guess is sporano is kept if harbough and his family don't want to move. He ilk then go to the niners. The QB they will go for in my opinion is one from FA. Like mcnabb. Remember Ross is about big names, he wants to load those seats up with fans. You need to think like him, thing big names people will flock to see. If I was sporano, I'd be selling him on big names to keep my 3 mill a year job. We don't have the numbers in the draft to do a good job at retaining a franchise QB this year.

I totally agree about Ross. THat is why I believe if he doesnt get a big name coach to help sell tickets, he is defintely going after one of the top QB's in the draft. Mcnabb isnt going to sell tickets, which is why I dont think we go for him. I think they give up next years draft picks, as well to move up or a player if the cba gets done

Ross is looking at options A, B, C, and D right now.

Based on the churning rumor mill and the fact that we haven't heard a PEEP out of Ross or Sparano, I think we can safely assume that retaining Tony is option E.
