I would agree with you, but he needs to work on clock management and getting into people's ass when they mess up.

That stuff comes with experience. He is still learning.

If Billicheat was only judges on his experience is Cleveland then he would be thought of as a failure. But, he learned and now is widely regarded as one of the best coaches ever.

But, he was never thought that way until he got a QB.

Sparano needs a QB....and needs it now. The time has come.

I have to agree on this one. Unfortunately, there aren't many options. After seeing Luck, I'm sold and would probably part with a one and three this year and some choices next year. McShay has Luck going one to Carolina and Gabbert(who I don't know much about) going fifth to Arizona. Mallet depending on work outs will go to Minny. Newton - not quite sold on him since you only have one year on him. Can he read defenses in the NFL.

I am not implying that Henne is a HOF caliber QB; but I do think it would be a mistake to blame the train-wreck that was the 2010 Dolphins on Henne. That's too easy. Even Sparano knows that. Henne can't be blamed for the lack of running game, the Special Teams disasters, the complete team collapse down the stretch. All of that goes on the coach.

Atlanta also gave up a HoF QB (Favre). Problem is, sometimes teams/coaches/players just don't mix and they do better elsewhere.

SD drafted a QB after Brees' 2nd season as a starter because he did not show promise or brilliance. They were ready to replace him.

Aikman threw 20 TDs and 36 INTs in his first two seasons. His passer rating was about 60 -far lower than Henne's. He also had Irvin there both years. Did he really show any promise?

Elway showed promise; but he also threw a ton of picks in those years.

Young was putrid with TB.

I think it's easy to look back on some of the all-time great QBs and remember only the good times, but these guys all had bad times. Most of them were worse than Henne.

They all showed flashes, Neff.

Henne hasnt shown anything other than him being a backup QB. It is the reality.

Show me 1 game changing drive that Henne has produced in 2 seasons.

Thats why i always said Dan Marino was one of a kind. He performed at a high level with every dolphin team he was in.

Unlike the others who needed quite a few superstars around them to become great.

PS. Dan had good offensive players and mediocre offensive players around him at times but he always took his game to the next level. He was one of a kind.

PS2. Notice all these other superstar QBs had great running games unlike dan.

Example

1.Elways had terrell davis
2.Aikman had emmit smith
ETC ETC

Who was the feature back when dan was starting for the phins?

Karim abdull jabbar, sammie smith, parmalee a couple of games wonder, mark higgs a tweener....No superstar.

And about the topic. I wouldnt mind if we kept sparano. IMO he isnt the problem either. Henning and henne must go.

i still believe that the majority of Henne's problems come from Hennings decrepit play calling that basically shackled Henne and made it easy for defenses to read and defend. Basically this whole year is a wash for Henne, next year when we have a new OC (i pray), Henne will still lok average early on.

By midseason next year you will see Henne starting to come around i bet.

"It's been fun to get the reaction of visiting coaches to the color of their locker room. Most don't notice it, but those that do are in trouble. . . . When I talk to an opposing coach before a game and he mentions the pink walls, I know I've got him. I can't recall a coach who has stirred up a fuss about the color and then beat us.” Hayden Fry

Henne is not the leader those guys were/are though.

Henne allowed Marshall to visibly disrespect him on the sidelines this past weekend.

Aqua. Do you think those guys looked like leaders when they were stinking up their teams for 2 or more years? They stunk. They were worse than Henne. Do you think that Youngs teammates considered him to be a leader? Or Brees? No way.

I wouldn't say that Henne allowed Marshall to disrespect him. I would say that Sparano is the one allowing that. And I would say that Marshall should be accountable for that. Marshall is kicking a guy when he is down - not exactly a good teammate.

Henne doesn't have "IT", and that is the deep desire and drive to win. He is non-shalant all the time. Those same guys you list all had the drive.

Saying someone doesn't have IT is very subjective. It's easy to look back and say that all those great QBs had IT; but not many people would have said that at the time.

However, if by saying "Henne doesn't have IT", you mean that he doesn't have a good o-line, a good RB, or a good offensive scheme then I definitely agree.

I also know that he regressed the second half of the season, but that was true of the entire team, with only a few exceptions.

Like Aqua, I also defended Henne all year long, I did it because of flashes of brilliance from the year before (mainly the 1st Jets game), be he has steadily regressed since then, and I think his confidence in himself and from his teammates and the fans is shot at this point. He needs a change of scenery and so do we IMO. Not saying under a different scenario he cant be a servicable starting QB one day, but I just don't see it here.

Part of the Dolphins problem has been giving up on guys too soon and watching them become productive players elsewhere. It seems to happen every year. Ninkovich and Armstrong are this year's examples. It will be much worse to see that happen with a QB.

Most QBs take 3 or more years to develop. Do we want to start over now when Henne is at the stage in his career when many QBs finally get it? Why should Henne be cast off when we all know that our offensive scheme and personnel were inept in so many ways?

So keep him but still draft a guy to compete, if they both look good then we have some major trade bait?

I agree dolphaholic with getting another QB, but I sure don't want to see us trade multiple first round picks for that guy who is being brought in to compete. Take a mid round QB or go after a guy like Orton.

Obviously he will be around next season if we draft a QB in the first, in that time, he will be able to answer all questions.

If he sucks, then there will be no excuses. If he is good, then we see what happens from their.

Neff,

next year is the year to draft a QB, could possible be the best class since 1983.

Why sit on our thumbs?

Also Neff,

Henne is damaged goods in Miami now.

B. Marshall made a mockery of Henne in front of the owner, coach, other players, and fans....

Henne has lost all respect of the other players on this team. Nobody will rally around him. He is done. You can thank Marshall for that.

Do you mean the 2011 draft or the 2012 draft?

My issue with drafting a QB now is this:
I believe we need to give Henne one year in which he has a solid supporting cast before we pass judgment on him. (One year doesn't seem like too much to ask.) If he was stinking it up on a good offense that would be another story, but that is not the case. That said, we have a number of offensive holes to fill before we have that solid supporting cast. Drafting a QB in round 1 this year (a year in which we have no #2 pick) will prevent us from filling the other holes. So we will delay our development as a team for another 3 years to bring in a QB that may or may not (flip a coin) be any better than what we have. Why not address the other needs that could actually help a QB succeed on this team?
