RE: Just what was he supposed to do on the play? BOTH of his receivers were double covered, the running back was also covered well and was only two yards down the field and it was 3rd and 14. Throw the ball away would be the corect answer however fans would still be up in arms if had done that because he didn't try to pick up the first down.
The blame there should be squarely on the coaches for a lame play call in that situation...we should have been four wide in that situation, being agressive and giving our all to pick up the first down. Not being conservative and hoping against hope that New England made a mistake in coverage.
The play calling Sucks

RE: None bigger than scheme, philospohy and coaching.

RE: And you could make the same argumant about Henne when he trusted Marshall to make the catch and not have the ball get picked against much more favorable double coverage when compared to the triple coverage Thigpen threw into.
the body lang between thiggy and henne is sure different. thiggy at least looks like an nfl qb the way he carries himself. would be good if he could play like one too
It dosent matter...both throws were poor. Thigpen's decision was much worse than Henne's dispite the better outcome.
The issue here is that the coaches are not doing a good enough job...the players, regardless of who they are, are only capable of doing so much when they have handcuffs on.
And yes, Thigpen adds another demension to the team...no doubt. But that demsension must be utilized by the coaches...and we are running the same ultra conservative approach and it's resulting in WR'S not being open. Our scheme and our play calls suck worse than either of our quarterbacks.
