This is a moderated phorum for the CIVILIZED discussion of the Miami Dolphins. In this phorum, there are rules and moderators to make sure you abide by the rules. The moderators for this phorum are JC and Colonel.
A starting caliber QB and an offensive coordinator who isn't in the stone age, and we need to win the majority of our home games. If we can fix these three glaring problems we can make some noise next year. I only hope that this team can turn it around. I am tired of mediocrity and failure. I know most of you are tired of it as well.
We need to get lucky and find a speedster WR and and a good RB very late in the draft or undrafted FA.
Arien Foster, Ahmad Bradshaw, LaGarrette Blount, Peyton Hillis, BenJarvus Green-Ellis, Mike Tolbert, Marques Colston, Miles Austin, Steve Johnson, Wes Welker, and plenty more top tier guys were either 7th round picks or undrafted Free Agents.
#1. Replace the OC with a guy who understand today's fast paced, high scoring passing/receiving game and by doing so moving away from attempting to be a control, ground pounding offensive team. The emphasis should be on passing/receiving a 65/35 ratio between passing and running.
#2. Acquire an existing veteran QB who is accurate, makes good decisions and has some ability to allude the rush by stepping up into the pocket or scrambling left or right. Such a QB would have to energize those around him and actually lead the team.
#3. Acquire a legitimate long ball playmaker at WR. Not a pretender like Ginn. This could be draft pick or a free agent.
#4. Acquire a veteran guard or a pro bowl RT. Add depth to the O-line.
#5. Acquire a fast, elusive, tailback to replace Ronnie Brown and or Ricky. Rex Hilliard and Cobbs remain as back ups and on special teams.
#6. Hire Chad Pennington as an assistant coach. Get him off the field so he doesn't get hurt anymore. Have him work with the new OC.
#7. Keep Al Harris on the roster, despite his age; continue to work with Sean Smith, Vontae Davis, Nolan Caroll, Clemons and get Will Allen back in camp.
#8. Beat NE twice in 2011 and stop them from reaching the playoffs.

Wow Upgrade Smith? Draft Newton? Horrible Horrible, but your thinking outside the box so kudo's.
Here is mine.
1: First thing is first, after we punch Henning in the face HARD...
We will force him into the retirement home.
2: If Vincent Jackson isnt Tagged, which he will probably be, try to acquire him.
3: Make Incognito our starting Center.
4: Trade Henne if any suitor's, if not then keep him on, start Thigpen.
5: Trade down our first round pick twice, then take the best RT position available.
6: spend the nest two pick's acquired by trading down on a LG, and a TE, or RB.
7: Try to trade Berger, if not then make him backup center.
8: Lobby hard to acquire Josh McDaniels, or Brad Childress as our OC.
9: Gotta keep Nolan at all cost.
10: Spend a middle round pick on a QB, and the rest of the draft on O-lineman, and two Safties.
If we do this then our team should be good to go depending on how our pick's unfold.
I'll make it easy for the Football Godz: my Wish List can be fulfilled on the second day of 2011: Beat the Patriots in a so-called "meaningless' game.
The above sounds stupid, but I live in New England and I have several neighbors and co-workers who are going to the game. I want them to return disappointed.
Owen Daniels would be nice, but I don't know can't stay healthy.
Williams would be nice, but at what cost, he is what 30, 31? Too old.
Mankins I don't know his age, if he is under 32 then maybe, but if over 31 no.
I like the Lee Evans possibility, but you would have better luck getting a speed wr in the draft in the 3rd round or so who won't be as exensive and will be a almost decade younger.
Basically trade down our first round, and try to trade a player or two, problem is no one in their right mind is going to trade us for any of our players, maybe Berger. Might get like a 5th prob a 6th for him.
Could trade Merling and recieve a 4th or 5th round, but would that be worth it? I mean lets not get too hasty here Odrick has done nothing but break his little girlie bones.
I would believe that Langford would bring more value, and could land us a third possibly high second round pick, and I would be up to trading him for it.
So in your fantasy land, we will be able get rid of all of the Coaches except, Nolan, and Nolan will be up for that? You are nuts! If you replace all the coaches but Nolan, and hire a new GM, he is not going to keep Nolan and Nolan is going to be pissed he wasnt offered the HC job.
And yes that will mean everything new, from defensive as well. Kill the continuity I was refering to. All of it new would be the consequence of your suggested list.
Solia, I have no problem with but it is not even worthy of mention
Now if you said make sure we sign Cameron Wake to a long term deal, then I would get your football knowledge. However mentioning SOlia to a deal and not Wake, who is playing under a vet minimum pretty much, is a little mind boggling.
TE- we just resigned Fasano to a new deal, I am not against, drafting a young TE but Owen Daniels is no better then Fasano IMO.
We have differences in how we view the team. I see the team with a few holes, and in need of a new OC, and keep drafting a QB until you find him for sure.
You see the wholes, and are saying to scuttle the ship and build a new one. I think that is a bit drastic. And guarantees nothing. You will destroy all the good along with the bad you want to get out. In your mind it is the answer, but the difference of what people envision and reality are always very different. You can argue that it is great and brilliant and scrap it all and rebuild based on this but it is all BS and never to be proven, so arguing it much further is completely pointless IMO
