With the talk of Oronde Gadsden, I started thinking who my favorite Phins have been. I'm not talking about the best guys, just the kinds of guys you'd pick to go to war with. The kind of guys that never gave up. Here are some names I came up with off the top of my head. Feel free to add to the list:
Jim Jensen
Oronde Gadsden
Bernie Parmelee
Bob Kuechenberg
Brian Cox
Zach Thomas
Wes Welker
Don Strock
Nat Moore
Tim Bowens
Then parmalee came along. I remember parmalee had one 100 yard rushing game and all of a sudden everybody was saying he was the next coming of barry sanders.

I don't remember ANYONE saying that about Parmalee. He was popular because he was a great success story, not because anyone thought he was the next {anyone}. Bernie had a lot of fans because he was working at UPS one week, then got a chance, played his heart out and was on the team. He busted his hump throughout camp, made the roster, then went all-out every time he was on the field, on special teams (I particularly remember him making some good tackles on kickoff coverage) as well as his backup RB role.

i have nothing against parmalee trust me. Right after that game the radio commentators were saying how we just found our next rb superstar. I remember like it was now..
And he did worked his buttoff to make it in the NFL. Good kid.

Oh the radio commentators..yeah, Rick Weaver and company. They were DESPERATE to see the next Kiick/Csonka/Morris combo so they projected that wishful thinking. They same guys also thought Scott Secules was the next Dan Marino for crying out loud, lol
Not the Ricky of the first few years, but the one of the last few, who has quietly done everything asked of him week in and week out, win or loss, who keeps banging away even in old age for a running back, and just never seems to give up.
Nice adds. Davon Bess definitely belongs on the list! I left off the superstars, for the most part, but ZT made my list because he was always competitive and overcame his lack of size with a high motor and tremendous effort. Jason Taylor does NOT belong on the list. This guy's a Jet now. That, in itself, drops him from the list in my book.
Ruddy wasn't crap. Matter of fact, I would take a young Ruddy right now....the dude was a genius. Yes, he was not the physical specimen you would hope for, but his mind, was bigger than any.
Dont forget, he was a Pro-Bowler.
